Photographer's Note
Let me share with you a quick dive into my travel memories with this lousy scan. Consider this my delayed homage to the Children Day that was commemorated on the 1st of June.
I guess I was kind of lucky by arriving in Kathmandu on the eve of Diwali, the Festival of Lights, one of the most important Hindu festivals. The whole city had a festive air and the streets were even more crowded than usual. Besides Diwali, Newari, one of the main ethnic groups of the Kathmandu Valley, although mostly Buddhists, were also celebrating their New Year and there was an election campaign for Parliament going on, so there were colourful banners all over.
As far as I can remember and understand, this little girl was preparing flower necklaces, something that was seen all over hanging on the walls of the houses and on religious statues.
Update 7-jun-2007: sarahnatalie's WS is much better than this original version.
Location (latitude, longitude): 27.7069,85.31017 (not highly accurate).

Zeca

Hi Jose,
A good daily life shot and a nice tribute. The colours of the flowers stand out well and you have caught her nicely in action.

Hi Jose,
An old one but it has a superb light and vivid colors, and she looks concentrated on stting up her flowers.. strong contrast gives atmosphere to the shot... the bit of another girl on the right couldnot be cropped as you would have lost the small bag of flowers... good compromise!

Ola Jose,
nice the view of this little girl as maker and vendor of these flowers-necklaces and her huge farm basket.Unfortunately the children's work in these countries of Asia, as Africa and generally in all the world,is something usual. The subject is not to become exploitation from the biggests,if however is to help her poor family, then what to say, let's do it.

The scan quality doesn't seem too bad. I like the way you have captured the concentration of the girl as she arranges the flowers in her basket. Very interesting photo.

Very bright yellow which is a great contrast, allowing for the scanner this is a lovely shot of the child although a lower POV may have been better and shot from the right in the shade so you caught the light on her face, keep scanning

Hi Jose,
I like this image a lot, and the scan isn't that bad. I did a little workshop mainly because I am distracted by the blurry figure on the right edge. Otherwise, it's great- especially the pensive expression of the girl and the nice yellow of the flowers.

Merhaba José, my friend...
It's a beautiful point of view and very affective composition, indeed...
The colors (especially the tones of yellow), the light and the details are wonderful... The position and the expression of the little girl are great...
TFS...
Stay well..

Paulo
