Photographer's Note

As I told before, there were many restrictions about art during soviet government. The artists had to circumvent these rules to create something more creative and at same time to be safe inside the society.
Here we have a sample: this canvas is named "In the Sea-Family" , it was painted in 1964 by Dmitry Zhilinsky.
We have a typical soviet family enjoying holidays in the beaches of southern part of the country. Curiously the father is very tanned if compared with the rest of the family, maybe an indicative he worked in a sunny area. The message is clear: the workers can enjoy fabulous holidays in soviet regime, something not so easy to reach as we can imagine. But the artist got to make the propaganda and create a nice artwork despite the limitation.
About family in soviet rule: In an initial phase of the government they decided to destroy the family because they wanted a plural society and the family was linked with religion and with capitalist ideas and parents were trying to educate their sons according with their "wrong" ideas. The government extinguished the Sundays and each member of the family had a different day for rest, trying to destroy the familiar link, children were educated by government and incited to denounce their parents, etc.. After some time this cruel experience was finished and things came near to the normal.

Vemos uma t韕ica fam韑ia sovi閠ica tirando f閞ias numa praia do sul do pa韘.
