Photographer's Note

--- This is "Stalin & Monroe", a canvas created in 1991 by Leonid Sokov in the first years of the independent Russia after communism. Can you imagine what Stalin would do with the painter if he had seen this in 1950 ?
--- One of the characteristics of a religious orthodox icon is having a golden BG, some branches of flower can be used too. This is the reason the artist used this here. Of course you will be able to recognize two of the most famous "human icons" of R鷖sia and USA here, anyone was great at his-her way.
--- Stalin had his famous mustache removed, but he is smiling to Marylin Monroe, a clear scene of a flirt.
--- Stalin had many women in his life, but he hated his mother very much because she obligated him to be a monk and even when she died he wasn't present at her funeral. One of his wives killed by her self, other loved him secretly, taking care of him for decades, and the others hadn't a so happy life. In fact, he wasn't able to deal with feelings and his nickname says much about him "The man of steel".
For another hand Marylin never was lucky with the men she found in her life, so strong visually and so fragile inside, and she ended as one of the wives of Stalin..
In the gallery there was a very funny painting, like a cartoon, where the famous scene of Marylin in the anniversary of Kennedy was recreated in a Russian way.
