The unusual beauty of Moscow and St. Petersburg subway is a known fact. One day we launched on this underground museum tour, stopping and photographing stations and trains - also an excellent way to deal with the heat of the city above. This one is a quick, but quite nice, shot with a phone, of the Mayakovskaya station corridor.(sharpness is lacking, as in all phone photos, but I like the symmetry)
The dome-like round openings on the ceiling contain mosaics with images of the USSR daily life: athletes doing their routines, air shows above the Kremlin, and other aspects of life during the Soviet period.
