Entrance into the Lost World of Yaghnob, a photo from Sughd, West

Photographer's Note

The Yaghnobi people live in the upper reaches of the Yaghnob River. In the small settlements of this highly picturesque valley we saw no cars or even motorbikes, because there are no motor roads there. The Yaghnobi people have their own agriculture, watermills, electric power stations and even their own language. Administratively the territory belong to Ayni District of Sughd province in Tajikistan.

At the gorge in the picture, named Tang-i Dahona, petroglyphs were discovered in 2007.

Zdravo Sergiy. I wouldn't be surprised if you were to be the first human in Mars or in another galaxy exploring some newly found civilization. Never heard of the Yaghnobi but then I don't travel to remote parts of the world. You do take us to some wonderful places where nature is still unspoiled. Regards. Klaudio.

I was wondering if you had cycled through this new country, and you gave the answer in saying there are no motor cars or no motor roads.
Indeed, it must have been a great experience to visit this lost world.
Impressive POV with this huge rock overlooking the mountain stream.
The path in the corner is an eye-catcher and invites your imagination.
