‘Ayutthaya - Wat Chaiwatthanaram - 2’
More pictures of the Wat Chaiwatthanaram in the historical park of Ayutthaya.
I arrived a bit before sunset and stayed until dark. Too dark to find my way back home easily :)
A long time ago I was in Thailand for about five days. It was at the end of a journey through West Malaysia and Singapore. I must confess that at the time the country had made little impression on me.
Afterwards it never seemed appealing to me to return there. I always chose other destinations.
When planning my 'longer' trip to Asia last year, it seemed difficult not to spend part of my time in Thailand.
If you want to combine Nepal with Laos and Cambodia you have to include Thailand (or part of it) in your trip. At least seen from a financial and practical point of view.
Twenty-six years after my first short visit, however, the country turned out to be much more pleasant.
Compared to Laos and Cambodia, I spent less time in Thailand, but I certainly enjoyed the country and its people.
There were of course a lot of tourists in Thailand. But contacts with the population were much easier and more pleasant than twenty-six years ago. Did I have accidentally the wrong experiences at the time?
Nowadays a lot more Thai do speak (some) English but mass tourism hasn’t spoiled them.
Usually the experience is just the other way around.
Or have I just been very lucky this time? In any case, now I look back with a very good feeling to my days in Thailand.

Hi Paul
It is 50 years since my one visit to Thailand. It is still on the list for another trip.
Another good one from this great complex. Good having the women in traditional dress and the added bonus of a small moon.
cheers

Fabulous red stones monument shown from a relatively closer range, Paul.
Good choice to include the three ladies.
Wonder what was the white spot up on the sky part. Could be cloned out maybe?
Wish you a nice weekend,
Ike

Hello Paul,
People's habit of renting traditional clothes make your photos look like they're from a glossy fashion magazine. ;-) But it would have been impossible to resist the temptation of taking pictures like this. The temples are fantastic but the red stones get a new dimension from the matching (partly) red clothes of these ladies. Also, the light was perfect. The WS photos are also very nice, especially the beautiful silhouettes of #1.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Paul,
I looked with pleasure and a sense of amazement at your main shot, that you had managed to get a photograph with three young ladies, who matched the b/g colour-wise. so perfectly! (On looking at your w/s, it might be that these ladies had hired the clothes but they still matched beautifully.)
I would have been tempted to get lots of shots of this temple building, too.
It is quite remarkable; made of bricks and creating such intricate patterns, it is utterly amazing.
You have given us some wonderful details of shapes, scales and textures.
Have a lovely w/e,
Bev :-)

Hallo Paul,

Bedankt.
Nog een mooi Pinksterweekend,
John.

Hello Paul, a lovely closer view of the temples.
The inclusion of the people in their fine clothes really adds to the composition. I like that we are able to see the brickwork and the patterns within the construction.
Good additional shots in the w/s.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Paul,
Good timing and best time to visit this historical park before sunset so I see. The temple just brought alive from the late sun light - reddish and blue twilight sky not forgetting the tiny moon. The 3 ladies with the Thai rented traditional costumes added the scene of the past.
I'm glad you found your way back home in the dark.

Hallo Paul, the Thai models are posing in front of that grandiose temple, a must see monument in the country. Their clothes add vivid colors to the photo. We can distinguish the old parts in stone and the restored parts in red bricks. Good sharpness, interesting note, regards.

Hello Paul,
The dresses match the colours of the bricks wonderfully, for sure they are made so deliberately. Beautiful stupas, fantastic light. I wonder if they had them also for men?
I find it interesting that from your previous journey to Thailand you had no good impression. Why? I was in Thailand in 2003, I travelled quite a lot and I liked it very much. Wonderful monuments, splendid nature, charming people. Later, I was again in Bangkok in 2011 (so many years ago !) and also I found people very friendly. That time it was the trip to Vietnam, Thailand and Myanmar, the countries so close and so different.
Best regards MAlgo

Bonsoir Paul,
Les femmes avec les robes colorées attirent le regard. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails du temple Wat Chaiwatthanaram. La lumière met en valeur les couleurs de l'image. Bonne soirée.

Hello Paul.
These two towers, the most important part of the temple, look wonderful and great, also the girls with their photos, with the beautiful national costumes add a lot of charm, you also had the luck that the family posed for you in front of the temple, fantastic WS photos too.
A magnificent color that gives a lot of chromatic richness to the image.
Very good lighting management and very good sharpness.
Well done. I like.
I wish you a pleasant week.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Dag Paul,
Groet Rob

Hi Paul,
it is rare that you show same structure in three separate uploads. But I agree this one deserves more attention. I will try to remember this place for the future visit to Thailand if ever. Some people including yourself compare prices of hotels to the expensive European prices but of course one has to add flight tickets, which may then make a substantial chunk of the price and even prohibitive for me when I would like to pay for three tickets and I could not go off the season.
Great scene here, the ladies wearing traditional and colorful clothes again. They make a nice foreground for the impressive structure behind,
