Photographer's Note
Not quite siamese, but born in Thailand, for sure!
Skies were threatening that day, Rain started and it allowed me for taking cover along the railroad, hang out, and getting acquainted with the people living just a few feet away from the tracks.
I was really tempted to go B&W with this shot, but stuck to the slightly-colored gloom of a cloud-heavy day.

I agree, and the cat makes a good focus point for the OoF background. One day I'll get to Bangkok on my own, and spend a day around the railway shanties, I clocked them from the train a few times, but never actually managed an excursion. Great atmosphere here.

Hi Herve,
Creative shot. The focus on the cat gives a very original perspective to the sot and passes an ideia of proudness and independence feelings that reflects well the personality of this wonderfull animal. It's as if all the rest goes and exist around him and because of him. The two kids on the background looking after him. The composition is very nice with the tracks leading the eyes. I like it in colors, could be interesting to post a the B&W as WS just to be able to compare the result.
Regards,
Flavia

Salut Hervé
Il y a quelque chose de flydragon dans cette image. Tes belle image avec une PDC qui donne à ce chat un relief intéressant.
Bien vu le cadrage.

Herve,
Jesus, this one is a spitting image of my cat!
It's a British White (breed) with one eye orange and the other one blue, which means there's a high probability that the cat is deaf.
Anyway, I like the DOF here and your work with perspective is good, too.
Cheers,
Robi
PS. I'd like to see it in b/w, too!

Hi Herve,
this is an amazing capture. When I saw the icon I thought it was flydragon. Interesting contrast of sharpness and blur. I like your POV. Great composition.

Great shot! I love the kids in the background. My wife and I were in Thailand in late 2004 and absolutly loved it there. I can still see the smiles on all of the kids faces in my head. Thanks for sharing the shot and helping to bring back the great memories!

Hello Herve,
This is really great focus on the cat, and I like your low POV so much. I have seen some of the similar pictures of Simon (Flydragon) but this is really Great great composition.

Hello Hervé,
C'est le kss-kss qui a fait toute la différence ici !
J'aime bien l'étagement des plans avec le fil conducteur du rail et le superbe bokeh
Je pense que le n&b lui aurait bien été aussi.

Unusual to put the cat in focus, it enforces the eye-travelling from those boys to the cat and vica versa, incongruous inspiring well succeeded approach.

A good lead Herve. If I'm writing a feature about this part of the railway with its neighbouring villagers, this photo is a good intro. This cat is about humanity. Where there's a cat, there's a home or people around her. It is about association. And with the cat, it looked groomed enough and not your usual backalley emaciated homeless cat. This cat even has a little bell on her. And seeing the boys in the distance, something about their demeanours tell you, this is a friendly neighbourhood. So much can be said, coming from your cat, don't you think?

A charming shot, Herve.
The out of focus background is certainly very effective here with the two boys included. Very creative, as is your aproach to the composition in general.

Andrew.

Hello Herve,

Hi Herve, nice funny daylife (background) picture, you were able to bring us a common scene with this cat, I like to discover places like this... About the composition, I wonder weither it would be better or not to step a bit more on the right in order to give more perspective and break the central axe created by the cat and the kid (would bting the kid more on the right side and the cat on the left... Anyway an interesting shot...
PS: where is it located in BKK ?

Hi Herve,
I have to confess that while visiting your gallery, I was attracted to open this photo because I especially like pictures related to railways. But it is for the quality of your picture that I am writing this note. The life shown on three levels : the cat, the two smiling children, the many busy people we see in the background, all that makes a complex ambiance that I find excellent.
I have not been to Thailand and Bangkok, but I feel the atmosphere quite well along that railways line I think, thanks to your photo.
Pascal.

Herve, I've been absent from alot of older galleries here. Some new ones too. This is a great shot overall. Like it alot; I think I would have tried for a deeper DOF, but it may not have been that easy on the spot. post some more... c

Privet,Herve,
Yes, I want to said, that this is not Siam cat before read your note.
I have Siam cat in my home, but I can't find the same cat in Thailand. Nowhere! My Japanese friend wrote to me: Does Blue russian cat live in Russia everywhere? He is right. This is stereotypes.
Greetings from Russia,
Serghei
