Photographer's Note
The mangosteen (Garcinia Mangostana) is a tropical fruit considered as one of the most exquisite fruits in the world; it is called commonly the "queen of the fruits". The mangousttine tree grows mainly in Southeast Asia, in countries like Kampuchea, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand. The fruit itself only twice becomes ripe per year; it is made of a smooth, purple bark dark, which shelters 4 to 8 parts of tender flesh, of whitish color. Several million people in the world used the mangoustine since hundreds of years to relieve their pains, to protect themselves from the diseases, to increase their energy, or to reduce their fever or to other medicinal ends.

This is among the most expensive in Asia for 2 reasons.
1) It taste very good.
2) The tree takes 15 years to mature.
If you look at the bottom of the fruit, there are marking that show how many lobes are inside. This is my favorite too. Thank you for sharing.

Laurent thanks for the info on the mangoustine. I work in a Produce warehouse and have seen this item in our facility many times. I didn't know that the fruit has medicinal purposes. I actually love the taste of these too. Wonderful deep purple skin. Thanks for the photo.

Salut Laurent,
I've seen this picture several times and have shown it to my wife, as this fruit are her favorite ones and when ever we go to the SE Asia, we allways by a lot of them, before we leave the country. The composition is very well executed and the quality of the image is excellent. I love the resulted graphic effect and the abstract look, given by the repetition of the subject. Also excellent note. Congratulations!
Merci,
Amitiés,

I like the way they taste, but I think this thing, the lychee, logan, rambutan all taste pretty much the same. The colours and patterns here are very appealing, this would make an interesting desktop wallpaper.

Bonjour Laurent
Bel assemblage

Hi Laurent,
I really like the colors and detail you've captured in the fruit; the repetition of shapes is attractive also. I had to open this photo as my Mom's doctor prescribed the juice to help manage her blood sugar, and now I drink it too for it's wonderful taste. I'm curious about the size; I think it must be about the size of a plum.
