daily market scene, a photo from Can Tho, Mekong River Delta

Photographer's Note

This is very much a daily life scene. People are selling, buying and just walking around at a local market somewhere in the Mekong Delta.

But sometimes a picture grows on you. And this one did. Difficult to say why. Maybe it's the fact that everybody is so involved in their daily life routine, not one among them notices the photographer/outsider. Maybe it's the high pov and the resulting flatness of the canvas? Maybe it's the feeling of being homesick for a place you don't even live in?

A good pov looking down on the market from a slightly higher vantage point. This shot is full of colour and activity. I like the vertical rows created by the passageways running between the vendors.

Use of black is very nice, it makes luminous effects stand out further. A scene of the active market is expertly framed with an excellent balance.
It was difficult for me to take photos like this in Africa.
