What could smile possibly bring!

A Black Hmong woman probably in her best togs wearing the black indigo outfit as parts of her traditional dress code, and getting a complete stranger to smile indeed is pure joy!
Traditionally this ethnic minority weave their fabrics on a daily basis using locally grown cotton, hemp and silk which are then dyed with indigo plants extract. This explains why her hand or her palm, like most of the women in her village have darker than usual hands! It's an authentic insight into how one of the last secluded ethnic communities have managed to sustain their traditional way of life for generations.

Thanks to the natural blue & black colouring from the indigo..

I thoroughly enjoy the cultural experiences which is what travel photography is all about..

Hello Abmdsudi,
An excellent portrait of this woman and her wide smile. Good lighting and we get a clear view of the traditional clothing as well. The pink parts stand out nicely as well. I also like the narrow composition.

Hello Abmdsudi,

How wrong can a person be!
My interpretation of this girl, from the thumbnail, was that she was in a university gown!
Full size, she is far more interesting, in her pink and indigo, traditional dress, with the most amazing earrings!
I really like how her bright, smiling face, and victory sign, stand out from the surrounding shadows.
