Hoi An sits on the Thu Bon River. The heritage listed town used to be a major trading centre. Up the river is fertile agriculture land but the city has also been a fishing town.
This photo shows you traditional fishing boats (in the rain again) lining the river opposite the town centre.
In the workshop is another photo taken just to the right of the fishing boats and features a man trying to catch his dinner.

Hello Ian. Marvellous photos from HBoi An. Fantastic colours of these beautiful boats and a line of palm trees along the river. When I was in Vitnam, we had also a lot of rain everywhere.
Do you know that Hoi An was saved by the Polish engineer? They planed to demolish the old town to build something modern.

Two very nice photos showing parts of Hoi An that don't look too affected by mass tourism. The colours are very good despite the rain and grey sky.

Hi Ian,
The intensity of rain is only visible in big size, and makes the impression quite different to normal TE size version. Uniforms design and all the small details making the difference between the boats is fascinating. Those palms are beautiful too.

Hello Ian,

The heavy rain has allowed you to capture a photograph full of atmosphere and not often recorded. The river has become patterned by the descending raindrops, no-one is about and there is a quietness to the scene.

I like the the unusual houses, the fisherman and the reflections in your w/s; a very good photograph but this one is different!

Hi Ian,
the boats are so colorful! I like that they agreed on one color theme with predominant dark blue. It goes so well with the misty setting. The color of the boats helps them to be better visible. Palm trees nicely decorate the scene as well. The weather didn't spoil you but you managed the situation very well,

Hello Ian

So you've "trawled" through your archive as well and also come up with an image from Viet Nam. Great minds, etc. These fishing boats look pretty large: certainly sea-going vessels, I reckon. I wonder how often they go to sea these days. I like the eye on each bow. The ancient Greeks did the same, I believe. Don't mind the rain: it gives the shot a certain authenticity.

I really like this long row of fishing boat along the riverbank. Their bright blue colours stand out well on this rainy day and the many palm trees make a great backdrop.

Hello Ian, two fabulous shots which despite the wet weather look great when they fill my screen.
Your main shot is well presented with the fishing boats all lined up and nicely backed by the green palm trees.
Your w/s picture shows the type of houses that the fishermen probably live in, the picture has lovely reflections.

Ian, nice general view of this fluvial port during the rain. The luxuriant tropical vegetation is made of coconut trees. Numerous fishing boats were moored here that day. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.

back in Vietnam...a country that's in my top 5 to visit in the next few years for sure. But our 1 y/o may change that...who knows. and ya, we can see the rain drops on the water surface. funny how the blue sections of the boat look SO new, whereas the lower portions look very aged. cool shot with the long lineup of palms. cheers

The main photo is quite colourful and the upper parts of the boats look like newly painted.
The rain doesn't cloud the view at all.
