The ancient and atmospheric Cham temple complex of My Son is inland from Hoi An and usually visited as a day trip. These Hindu temples were constructed between the 4th and the 14th century by the Kings of Champa.
The complex suffered badly from American bombing during the Vietnam War but some of the towers were fortunately spared. The workshop shows a different structure.
Keeping the jungle at bay is a constant challenge and some parts weren't very visible on our visit in 2011.
We were lucky and visited on a day with reasonable weather but floods cut the access road the day after our visit.

Hello Ian,
Fascinating ruins in beautiful green surroundings.
Nice strong contrast between the reddish brown stone and the fresh green plants that grow on the constructions.
Beautiful presentation with the small path on the right.
Best regards, Paul

Bonjour, cher Ian,
Un voyage étourdissant à travers des lieux cachés dans une végétation dense et où il est difficile de se mouvoir avec les grandes pluies.
Ces anciens temples décorés par la végétation gardent toute leur beauté.
Amitiés.

Hello Ian,
I didn't see My Son. Instead I went to Son My, heavily affected by US ground soldiers. These ruins make me think of a tiny version of Angkor; beautiful temples partly overgrown by the jungle. They make fascinating views.

Gert

Hello Ian,
Your photograph looks like HDR. I don't know if that is accidental or you have done some PP on the photograph.
It is sad to learn that beautiful buildings, which have survived for centuries, have been so permanently damaged by man's inhumanity to man!
This really is a lovely photograph, nicely angled and sharp. It reveals the resilience of nature! If left unaided for many more years, this temple will completely disappear!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Ian,
What a picture with a Hindu temple as subject, almost a ruin.
You has this very long in your archive preserved.
Colours make your picture yet nicer.
An excellent composition, nice sharp and clear image.
Very well done, TFS.
Best regards,
John

Hello Ian,
Great view of this ancient temple with a great mix of the orange tones of the bricks and the green tones of the plants that are slowly taking over. Well done.

Hello Ian, two good shots of the Cham Temple.
As you say, keeping the jungle from taking over is a real challenge. It is remarkable that we are able to see so much of the Temple considering its age.
I can't recall seeing this Temple before, and there are some lovely details still apparent.
Thanks for sharing, kind regards, Jean.

Hi Ian,
The vegtation and the trees are framing well the temple. The point of view is showing the details of the Champ temple. The light is giving nice tints to the colors of the picture. Have a nice day.

Hi Ian
Missed this one. I could have sworn I uploaded at least one shot of My Son, but perhaps under Hoi An. It has a miniature Angkor Wat appearance to it. Tfs!

Hi Ian,
these ruins look quite ancient. They seem to be shining as if very wet. Great series of photos. The sky indicate challenging weather conditions but you managed to preserve some features of the sky as well.
Great reportage,

Hi Ian
One of the world’s cultural treasures. This shot shows a wonderful glimpse of Champa’s ruined temple of My Son. So interesting and spiritual in mood. A rich history with plenty of mystery!
Best regards
