Photographer's Note
The Jimenoa river, which was already subject of earlier posts of mine (1, 2), has at least two water falls near the town of Jarabacoa. I think that this one is commonly referenced as the Lower Salto de Jimenoa and, as far as I know, is the easiest one to visit, because there are a couple of road signs and there is a paved road that only ends about 1 Km or less from it. From what I have read, I got the idea that there are a couple of more impressing falls in the region, namely one 75 meters / 246 feet that was used in a dramatic scene of one of the Jurassic Park films.
I am a bit sorry for not having visited the latter and the others, but I wasn't too confident about being able to find them, which is something that I don't figure out as being easy to do, as the road signs are kind of scarce in the area, there are many zones where you don't find anyone to ask for directions, and one never knows when the road turns almost impassable for a common car, even if it looks good on the map. Maybe I should have rented a 4WD, but that would cost me the double of what I paid for the car. Anyway, we hadn't much time to spend and the landscapes were so scenic that just driving almost randomly was a pleasure to the eye. The day before we drove several several Kms driving on the road to Constanza, near where is supposed to be located those higher falls and we didn't see any sign mentioning it.
These falls aren't easy to photograph, because of the water floating on the air that soaks you and the camera quickly. The position of the sun didn't help me either. I'd be glad to have more time to explore the region and being able to return to this place and others in a time that the light was more suitable.
WS#1 is a view of the river downstream of the falls and WS#2 shows one of the suspension bridges that is part of the path to the falls.
Location (latitude, longitude): 19.097444,-70.596063 (I am not sure about the accuracy, but my guess is that the error isn't much higher than a pair of Kms / 1 mile)

F

Bom fds,

Olá José,
I like the mixture of clarity and water steam and I think I hear the thunder from the falling water. The composition is well done with a bit diagonal view including the meadow at the right and some good blue sky. The textures of the water and foam, but also the one from the rocks are excellent.

Tis waterfall seem powerful, though not high or wide. Good viewpoint to capture the natural beauty of this place. The warm colours and good details work very effective in the quality of the shot. Nice natural place with good appeal. Thanks :-)

A first rate image of the waterfalls. I had no idea that such a dramatic waterfalls existed in any of the Caribbean Islands. But your excellent note has informed me otherwise. The composition and perspective, colors and resolution are all very good. I am surprised by the color of the water, muddy following torrential rains.
Warm regards,

Jean-Charles

Jose,
your photographic capture shows the raw force of an unleashed river coming done some obstacles. The mist caused by this gives an additional impact to your shot. it might have been interesting to get someone standing behind the rail on the right side.

Another great picture from Jimenoa series, very dinamic waterfalls picture with two character side by side. Though the blue sky just showed apart, its added point to this photo.

Ola Jose, my fellow eccentric soul :)
Such a powerful presentation of this noisy and wet part of nature!
Noisy and wet, but a true delight for the eye. I would not dare standing and having a shower under that growling giant!

Your POV is great and the blue sky with some clouds in the corner adds something, as a repetition of the droplets of the fall - did not read the many critiques but I'm pretty sure that other persons wrote the same : the fence in this case is disturbing IMO, otherwise it would be pure nature - but apart from that, I like the colours and really, I can hear the growl of the fall !
TFS,
Cheers,
Cath.

Hi Jose
Nice waterfall shot. I agree about the water in floating air preventing close shots, I had that a few times.
You are adventurous to bring us this view. I like the steep gorge cut into rock. Great pov and composition with strong light. Great Note. TFS
