Photographer's Note
This sympathetic old lady of Puerto Plata insisted that I took her a portrait by waving her arms and by making poses at me. Maybe she did so in the hope of getting some coins, but I didn't wait for her asking for such before I gave her, so I can't be sure. I tried to talk to her, but I guess that she assumed that she wouldn't understand me before she even tried to do it, so all she did was waving her head and smiling again.
Some of you will probably recognise the place from my earlier post of Puerto Plata.
The image suffered quite a heavy PP, not that much in the colours and levels, but specially in cloning electric wires, a candle light and two cars. I hope I am not transgressing the TE TOS with this. Maybe I could have sharpened it better, but I am not sure because its size is already near the limit of TE.
I have posted a WS with the original image and another one with a closer POV.

Jose,
I'm really very impressed with your PP. Comparing the original and the final product is shocking! What a difference! Sure, I recognized the place immediatelly from your previous Puerto Plata post. The old lady looks quite sympathetic and her donkey and the off center of her in your ocmposition is good. The sharpness looks good enough for me.

Hi Jose,
I must say I am impressed with your technical ability in mastering the wonders of Photoshop or what ever it was. No doubt the photo looks much nicer now without the ugly reminiscent of our modern times such as power lines and cars. This way we can truely enjoy the colorful colonial architecture and imagine how the place looked like on the turn of the century. Acting according to this this reasoning you can easily go on and convert the asphalt pavement of the street to a dust road, and the fire hydrant to a charming old fountain in order to eradicate modernicity completely.
But the thing is that I disagree with such efforts at all to begin with . I don't think they belong in TE, because what are we going to learn about the world through this photograph ? that Puerto Plata is a nice little place without electricity or cars? All that is remained to do is convert it to Sepia tone so it looks kind of old. No, I want to see the ugly things combined with the beautiful, because this is reality, if you like it or not. Again, I like to look at the photo for its aesthetic value but not for the idea that stands behind it.

I see you have caused some controversy. I bet if you hadn't been honest about it no-one would have known. To be honest I can see both arguments, but I think you addressed the negative complaint by including the original in the WS. There is no doubt that without the cables it is a much better image aesthetically. Is this the original sky enhanced or one from elsewhere? If it's original you have done a brilliant job of bringing out the colour and detail from a jpeg file (much easier from a RAW).
The old lady on her donkey is a wonderful element of the scene and I like the fact she is waving. The closeup in the other WS is also a good idea but I think you will know I would have preferred the composition with the lady on the left with the space on the right as that is the way she is facing. You also chopped the donkey's legs, which is probably why you didn't consider it as a main post.
All-in-all a good TE total package which also demonstrates your PP skills.

Olá José,
good idea to park the cars somewhere else via clone key. It is easier to focus on the old lady, as she is worth to do so. Wonderful angle for amazing depth. I decided for me not to clone out such things like wires in that amount, even well done, some stay visible.

Ola Jose,
nice composition with perspective and a good POV.The old lady lonely, on the road, rider on her donkey, seems so happy.I think that well you made and erase the cables from the street but I believe that the cars should be stay on the road seeing the original photo. The colours and the light are good enough.Informative your note too.Well done my friend.

(e cliquei no "WS").

I have to first say the colors in this look beautiful and the contrast creates a nice depth to the street scene. But I have to go along with some of the others on what was one to this. I see the problems in two ways.
First I think cloning out the cars has, because they were so prominent, caused a serious quality issue from front to back. The front is so crisp and clean while the back becomes silky smooth and "bumpy" in areas as a result of the cloning.
The other thing is that by removing the modern elements of street lamps, wires and cars you lose more than you've gained. Mainly the cars I'm thinking about here. In the actual scene the contrast between the modern cars and this old woman on a mule creates a really interesting contrast. Modern and efficient and anachronistic and antique. It's much more of a clash between two different times and is an indicator of that time in development where both coexist. Although there are modern elements still in the image it does not have the same clash as the more crowded actual scene.
So, like I said, the colors turned out great. And I think there are some interesting traits about the "clash" as I said. But overall I think you've lost more than you've gained by making the changes.
But that's just my opinion. I'm not trying to impose it on you or anyone just saying what I think.

Hi Jose,
A nice street scene with good perspective showing all the lovely old buildings which line the street. Great details on the buildings and nice colours. But of course what tops off the photo is the friendly old lady on her donkey. A moment well captured.

Greetings Jose! I see this was a very productive location for you. This one is a charming cultural capture, the essence of TE so I wouldn't worry about the exta PP involved. Thanks for including the original for comparison sake.
Compositionally all the elements are arranged nicely from the angle of the street to the position of the women. Well done!

Hello José,
I recognized the location immediately. But here, the woman riding the donkey makes the photo very much more compelling. That was gracious of you to give her a little money. That is a moral obligation that I always feel when I take photographs of people.
Warm regards, José,

Merhaba José, my friend...
It's a wonderful point of view and very pretty composition, indeed... The tones of the pastel, the light, the sharpness and the clarity are perfect... Especially the texture of the wooden walls and the contrast between the colors are great... The meaning on the old lady's face is also perfect...
TFS...
Stay well..

Beau travail.
Cordiales salutations!... et bonne fin de semaine,

Hola Jose,
This one is very nice, the lady reminds me of Don QUijote and Sancho Panza...
This daily life photo is one in thousand.
I like it a lot.
regarding the PP, I think we all should know where to stop. I have seen photos being trasnformed completely in PS, and nobody complains. I appreciate that you posted the original in WS. I do the same, especially for those with heavy PP. The heavier PP the most one should post the original photo. It is good for learning.
well done

Jose, this is a very interesting shot. From the look of the old lady it appears the area is poverty stricken but it is so clean on the streets, unusal from my experiences. Color and crispness of focus are awesome. Great capture.
