Photographer's Note
I need a break from a hard working weekend, so here it goes what is probably the last post related with the hurricane Dean. It shows the beach in the morning after the storm.
Half the straw umbrellas had been taken away by the sea, half of those that resisted were down and/or severely damaged and the width of the beach between the shoreline and those coconut trees had shrunk to half of what it used to be. Weather was still stormy, but the sea was much more calm (in the afternoon of the day before I would be swept by the waves if I was in the point where I shoot). Don't feel sorry for our holidays: we passed another pleasant day in the swimming pool , the next day we went to Santo Domingo again in the morning and in the afternoon the beach was opened already.
The light and colours may not be that pretty, but I think they are reasonably realistic.
I posted a WS with the POV shifted 180 deg.
Location (latitude, longitude): 18.4472,-69.6058

that is not easy to describe, because I have a bit a bad feeling to say some capture of damages seems to be good. :-( But it senseful to post this, no question. Well documented damaged beach, which was before a place for fun and relaxing. The light by the weather tells us that the time of the hurricane is not so long ago. Good sharpness and colours and a very strong impression. That's why I must praise this one.
The difference of before and after is well presented by your several captures from here. Good realised short series.

Very good reporting of the hurricane aftermath, Jose. Both images show the level of devastation on the beach. Still, there is considerable appeal in color and contrast in this fine composition. Regards,

When you look at this and then realise the Dominican Republic was not in the direct path of the hurricane we can only imagine the devastaion on the places that took a direct hit.
I like both images but this is the best one, for quality. There's something about these lighting conditions that creates wonderfully sharp and detailed inages, almost like pen & ink drawings. You have that here. We can almost touch those palm fronds; the clarity is so good. Well done

Very nice image, Jose. I really like this scene of devastation, although it looks pretty good, relatively speaking. The composition is very nice with the amount of space devoted to sky. I'm glad things are recovering from the storm. All the best!

I don't know, Jose. I think the light and colours are actually quite nice. Definitely realistic, as you say. I like the mood that is created by the image. It must have been quite the experience to be in the DR during the hurricane!

So sad, so dark...
It must be a strong and stange experience to "see" a hurricane. Your serie is impressive and I must admit you found some "beauty" at the moment. Pretty disturbing !?

Bonjour Jose,
Bien amicalement.
Daniel.

Oh! Hurricane aftermath...
We are so used to see those devastated tropical beaches in the evening news, but seeing them in TE is a strange feeling. However the color tones, the concept itself and the technical quality are very nice. You can never know where you will find aesthetic visions my friend...
Cheers,

So sharp, with so great colors especially the vegetation on the sand. A feeling of desolation, the sky is very well rendered and this grey just enhances the colors in the other parts of the picture.

Hi Jose,
There is quite a bit of destruction, and you have depicted it well. Good composition with the rows of palm trees and the rows of umbrellas. An interesting and informative shot.

Buen trabajo.
Un fuerte abrazo.

I see the Dominican Rebulic got hit quite hard too! The destruction is visible here with good stormy colors, and a pleasant framing and POV... did you hide during the storm? ;D

Hello José,
This is truly beautiful composition -- conceived with imagination, exposed with perfection. The aftermath of the storm does not really generate pity but admiration that these locals persevere. But perhaps it all averages out -- in paradise there are also the intense trauma.

Hi Jose
Typhoon Nari & Typhoon Wipha / Goring were/ are currently impacting on South Korea so a timely upload. It's a nice change to see these tropical paradise images, without the standard blue sky & turquoise water. A good photojournalistic shot, with superb sharpnes. Tfs!

Excelente post.
Bom fim de semana (de descanso),

Jose,
an interesting journalistic shot showing some damage that this distant passing by hurricaine was ablt to inflict to DR. Actually I'm more impressed with all the seaweed on the ground than with the straw umbrellas. That must have been a hell of a rough sea to loose up all the maritime life from the cliffs, rocks and sea ground.
