St. Wolfgang im Salzkammergut Church towering over Wolfgang See (Lake) in Upper Austria. Schafberg Mountain in the bg (1,783 m) is shrouded in mist.

I found this part of the Wiki entry on the town amusing:

"Saint Wolfgang erected the first church at the shore of the Wolfgangsee after he withdrew to the nearby Mondsee Abbey in 976. According to legend he threw an axe down the mountain to find the site and even persuaded the Devil to contribute to the building by promising him the soul of the first living being ever to enter the church. However Satan was disappointed as the first creature over the doorstep was a wolf."

Stunning green color of the water, Chris, only can assume it is a result of ice melted residue's.
Wonderful sight with the big clock-tower, charming place on the water edge with red chairs. lovely place for a quiet momnents.

Hello Chris for sure, the main attraction of your picture is the huge campanile 'priding itself on guarding the law and order in the vicinity'.
As complementary feature I notice the sumptuous staining of water and the reddish eye-catcher set in between.

Hello Chris,
The church is nice and it's beautifully located between the green hills and the very green lake. The dark clouds and the nearly empty caf�/restaurant don't speak of late July. But in spite of the not so great weather the photo is remarkably clear and bright with very good colours and contrasts.

Hello Chris, Nice place when you can first pray and soon swim in the lake. Good to see the EU flag, it is just 17 years that we are a member of the European community (but it is not sure if we will remain there). Nice view of the chairs waiting for some guests. Marvellous colours of water.

Hello Chris, informative notes, I like the story.
The low lying mist over the mountain provides a good background for the scene, no background distraction, so we can concentrate on the campanile.
This is a great view of the church especially with the beautiful green water in the foreground.

A good capture of this elegant church at the edge of the lake and in front of the green hill slopes, which emerge from the low hanging clouds. The many red chairs stand out nicely as well.

Hello Chris,
The green water in the foreground looks very attractive and it makes me dream of summer temperatures. The photo is taken in summer but the top of the picture with the mountain in the fog shows it was not the sunniest day. Or perhaps this is an early morning photo.
The terrace is almost empty. Was everyone in the church? :)

I should have visited this place but we gave up the tour and decided to spend the day in salzburg. excellent view with the tower with this curious bell shape in the top.
