Stephansdom

This is another photo which has been waiting very patiently in my folder with possible uploads for a very long time. It shows one of the best known buildings in Vienna, the Stephansdom (St. Stephen's Cathedral). The Gothic building was built between the 12th and the 15th century. The 136 metre-tall South Tower is the ninth-tallest church tower in the world.

Hello Lars, a magnificent cathedral, and you did well to get its full height into the frame. Its architectural features are beautiful.
A sign of pre-Covid times with lots of people in the foreground. They add life and colour.

Hi Lars,the photo you show us reminds me a lot of the difficulty of the perspective and the distortion that I encountered trying to photograph the cathedral of San Vito of which your father has just put some photos and it made me remember this fact. Jag var h鋜 ett 錼 senare och kunde inte alls f� med hela kyrkan i en bild. Jag hade ju inte lika bra kamera som du, och 鋠en om linjerna 鋜 lite deformerade, s� st鰎 det mig inte. Kyrkan 鋜 verkligen imponerande och folkvimlet g鰎 bilden trevligare. Sk鋜pa och ljus 鋜 av b鋝ta klass.

Hello Lars,
Apparently this cathedral is one difficult building / tower to show on picture, there is no better POV to include itts whole from ground level up.
Nonetheless, managed an excellent sharp view, enliven and well lit.

Hallo Lars,
Toen ik naar Wenen ging, droomde ik ervan om de Stephansdom en het Haas-Haus aan de overzijde van de straat in 殚n foto samen te brengen omwille van het super grote contrast in architectuur.
Dat is me echter niet echt gelukt.
Ook niet zo evident om dit te bekomen. Misschien heb jij wel zo'n foto?
In ieder geval ben je er in geslaagd om de hele kathedraal binnen je fotokader te krijgen.
Een prachtige dag in de meimaand levert een bijzonder helder beeld op.
Mooi met de drukte op het plein.

I climbed up the 342 steps to the tower lookout which offers a stunning view of the patterned roof and surrounding city. Good sharpness and a nice blue sky backdrop. Tfs!

I have seen this beautiful church a few times and always found it difficult to include the whole of it in one frame! I really like your pov and composition. Look even better on the canvas of blue sky and the people add a sense of scale and more colours.

Hi Lars,
I had the pleasure to visit this beautiful church but in the pre-digital times and in general in my pre-camera times so basically I cannot prove I have been there :(
It is a magnificent cathedral and I would like to have it in my TE gallery.
It seems there was some restoration going on but they at least made an attempt to hide it. A lot of people.
I already started to enjoy presence of people when they are further away, but I still don't like those who are getting too close. I remember this same feeling in Prague. There was no way to take a step back and avoid crowds.
They certainly add a lot of color in the foreground.

I remember it was difficult to find a POV where we could include the whole cathedral. here we can see the last dirty part to be restores. it is an amazing building. nice image.
it is told the 10th highest church is located in maring� city, near mine. check the link bellow.

A good photo taken from a tricky position where you can't really avoid some distortion. A spectacular church and the photo has great detail and perfect sharpness.

Hi Lars.
Superb composition with this total view of such a huge construction, the Cathedral of San Esteban leaves us surprised by its height and the delicate work of walls and tower, normal that the square is so full of people.
Good perspective of the image, colorful, sharpness and luminosity are perfect.
