Photographer's Note

The Schlossberg (Castle Hill), at 473 metres (1,552 ft) above sea level, is a tree-clad hill, and the site of a fortress, in the centre of the city of Graz, Austria. The hill is now a public park and enjoys extensive views of the city.
The Schlossberg lies in the center of Graz. The mountain is easily accessible by the Schlossberg funicular that carries the passengers from the foot of the mountain all the way to the top. It is also easily possible to reach the top by walking. A series of steep staircases lead directly to the large clock tower, and a serpentine path on the opposite side of the mountain also leads to the top and ends up in nearly the same place as the stairs.

Hello Piotr,
The sun was getting low but you still had just enough light for a perfectly clear and crisp view of the city. I like how we see the light still shining on the right side of the view while the left side is already in the shade. The distant hills have a beautiful blueish hazy tone.

Cześć, Wyszło trochę ciemnawe, ale i tak piekny widok z tą wijącą sie rzeka. No i wspaniałe wzg髍za na horyzoncie. Mogłabym pewnie p�ł roku spędzić na TE ze zdjęciami z Grazu, tak mnie oczarował. Bardzo jestem ciekawa, co jeszcze zobaczymy.

Hello Piotr,
A great view of the city and the mountains in the distance. You captured it in a fine autumn sunlight, which resulted in fine, natural colours. The river and trees on both side are well placed in the centre.

Hello Piotr,

I have to ask, how did you reach the summit; was it by the funicular railway or by the steps?
The sun looks to have almost disappeared but the light was still sufficient for you to capture the details of the city below.
The treelined river makes a fine, diagonal guide across the city, leaving time to see the tall buildings and leading eventually to the mountainous b/g.

Hi Piotr,
An excellent high viewpoint above the city and that narrow river. I like those leafs on lower right corner. Also this region seems to be fairly mountainous, although highest peaks of Austria are elsewhere.

I never made it to Graz, so tfs. I did get similar panoramic views of Salzburg and Innsbruck, so I am not crestfallen. The river adds a strong lead in line. Tfs!

The winding lines of the river and the rows of trees on each bank make for a splendid sight.
From atop Schlossberg we also see how Graz is surrounded by dark wooded mountain slopes.
