The English name Alps was taken via French from Latin Alpes, which formerly was believed to be ultimately cognate with Latin albus ("white").
The Alps is one of the great mountain range systems of Europe, stretching from Austria and Slovenia in the east through Italy, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Germany, France and Monaco in the west.

Hi Murray,
The distance between the trees and the mountains is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the mountains. The fog has a special effect on the colors. Have a nice day.
