Gosaukamm above Gosausee, a photo from Upper Austria, East

Photographer's Note

This is the rugged Gosaukamm range, seen from the shore of Vorderer Gosausee, a scenic lake in the Dachstein Mountain area. The Gosaukamm range is made of limestone, and it extends west from the main Dachstein massif. To me it is reminiscent of the Dolomites of Italy. The peak in the middle is the Grosser Donnerkogel (2054 m).

Fantastic view of this green valley under the rocks. I like the small wooden huts and the cows grazing. The sharpness and colours are superb.

Hello Vincent,

This is a beautiful, scenic photograph of this area of Austria. It could easily be used as an advert for the region in a travel brochure or in National Geographic.
You show the strong contrasts between green, conifer covered slopes and the rugged, bare, rocky summits of the mountains.
The chalets are well included and help to create the sense of scale.

I haven't yet see the Dolomites but I have been to Upper Austria. A beautiful part of the world although my tour focused on Lake Wolfgang. Tfs!

Hi Vincent,
What a beautiful scene from Austrian Alps. I lived for about 4 years in Munich and often I went for skiing in Austria but I didn't take photos at that time. Looking at your pictures I remember those great times.
The colors are magnificent here, the well saturated green and blue frame the grey mountains.
The occasional presence of the huts allows us to better imagine the scale,
