Tourists back a Bruges (photograph Saturn afternoon)
Bruges by boat
A visit to Bruges is not complete without a boat trip on the Bruges canals, the arteries of the city. Accompanied by swans floating past you on the water, you will discover Bruges from a surprising perspective. Because some things you only see from the water!
You embark at one of the five moorings in the heart of Bruges. For half an hour, the captain will take you to the most beautiful spots on the water between Jan van Eyckplein and the Beguinage. Along the way, admire some of Bruges' highlights from a completely different angle and get an explanation of what you see. The languages in which explanations are given depend on the nationalities on board during your visit. All shipping companies follow the same route and have four uncovered boats (umbrellas are handed out in case of rain) with a capacity of 35 to 40 people per boat. Did you know that the boats will be gradually replaced by more environmentally conscious, quiet electric boats in the coming years?
Boat trips run from early March to mid-November. Beyond that, the shipping companies can decide for themselves whether to open or not.
I hope you like it.

Hallo John,
Vele groeten, Paul

Hello John, Maybe the visit to Bruges is not complete without the boat trip, but I rather walked around than sit in such a crowded boat and listen to the noisy guide. Pity for the rain. I remember well this beautiful old stone bridge. Excellent composition.

Hi John, the rain does not stop tourists on the boat, water below and water above but the charm of a ride on the canals is always irresistible, especially for those who make a day trip. Perfect capture and great timing to catch the boat that is about to cross the old bridge. Have a nice week and thanks,Luciano

Hi John,
You have captured well the movement of the touists boat. The point of view is showing the details of the bridge and of the buildings. The colors and the sharpness are very good. Have a nice day.

Hello John,
Uh-oh, they'd better lower their umbrellas! I like the textures of the stone house.

Hi John
This didn't look like a good day for an open boat tour. A good photo with the old bridge and approaching boat.

Hi John
A very touristy location by the canal adorned by such graceful architecture and they seem not to be bothered by any weather conditions. This arrangement looks just great as do with the features, exposure and overall colour rendition. Excellent shot

Salut John,
Nice view with canal and old bridge, a rainy day but a good management for the light for your shot, good dynamic effect with the boat, tfs.

Hello John
A damp but still pretty shot of this popular, indeed famous corner of Bruges. Of course this is the Bonifatiusbrug (surprised you didn't identify it in your note!) which even in the rain looks great. Here's my (predictably black and white) version of the place, taken in similar conditions, although it wasn't actually raining at the time!

Hello John,
It's amusing to see that not even a rainy day will stop the sightseeing tours on the canals of Bruges. The umbrellas may block some views for those sitting in the boats, but for a photographer in the street or on a bridge the umbrellas become nice parts of the composition. The colours and light are still very good in spite of the bad weather.
Best regards,
Gert

Dag John
Personally I prefer such delicately-lit pictures to harsh sunlight for easier appreciation of a decor surrounding the main subject.
This tourist boats adds a sense of romanticism to an already captivating scenery!

Hallo John,
Ondanks het regenachtige weer zat het bootje goed vol. Een mooi gezicht op het smalle water hier dat omringd wordt door mooie oude bakstenen architectuur. Ook dat kleine bruggetje is erg leuk.

Hallo John,
The old stone bridge makes a fine central focal point and the tourists in the open air boat have come prepared with umbrellas for the inclement weather. Tfs!

Hello John, the umbrellas are up but the wet weather does not spoil our enjoyment of this scene.
An excellent composition with the canal on a good diagonal from the corner of the frame.
I love the texture and colours of the brick and stone work.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi John,
It is not the first time I see tourist enjoying a boat cruise under their umbrellas in Bruges. And it is fun to see one umbrella crossing the bridge too! Lovely corner of this historic city. October has been quite rainy in Finland and I'm not surprised if it has been in Belgium too.

Dear John,
This is a photo I would have taken proudly my self: (1) it obeys, the rule of thirds, (2) it shows a lot of interesting details eg (3) the umbrellas.
I'm buying it. :)
Best Wishes,

Hi John.
A beautiful photo despite the rain, the wet stones give a great contrast, also the intensity of the greens, charming the bridge with the tourist boat about to cross it.
A magnificent coloring, good lighting management and sharpness.
Well done. I like it.
I wish you a pleasant week.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hi John,
These are very determined tourists. I am very impressed that they decided to take the boat tour in spite of the rain! But I suppose it is a thing you MUST do while in Bruges.
I often complain about the weather but these tourists enjoy the boat trip no matter what! And you made a perfect use of their misery. Their umbrellas add a nice touch to the scene.
Excellent work,
M
