Waterway is again open “Reep” history of the center Ghent
"This is a historic moment," says Flemish Minister for Mobility and Public Works Ben Weyts. "Almost 60 years ago Ghent turned a bit away from the water: the Lower Scheldt was filled up. Flanders has invested 2.5 million euros to allow the water to flow again. The whole neighborhood underwent a transformation and has now undoubtedly become one of the most beautiful places in the historic center of Ghent. Good news for the residents, but also for the tourists and the water lovers. "
"I have been looking forward to this together with a great many Gentenaars," says Vessels of Mobility and Public Works Filip Watteeuw. "Water in a city is incredibly important. It creates a warm atmosphere and cools the city. The Bar becomes a delightful place to walk or to stay, and where
parking used to be, you can sail now ".
I hope you enjoy

Hallo John,
Wow !

Hello John,
The nearest buildings to the left are beautiful and the buildings further away are perfectly reflected in the canal. The photo has most enjoyable colours and light and the sharpness is also perfect. It is certainly true that water means very much for the atmosphere and beauty of a city. A city without lakes, sea, rivers or canals never feel completely nice.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi John,
The presence of the crowd is animating the scene. I appreciate the reflections on the water. The length of the river is giving depth and perspective to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the buildings. Have a nice day.

Hi John,
beautiful view along the channel. The building is very elegant and adds a nice touch here. Nice asymmetry. The river provides also a very vivid reflection, the light was lovely.
The final effect very attractive,

Hello John,
I can imagine this canal without water and I agree, it is much better now. The building with the onion domed tower is interesting. 👍👍

Hello John,
An important day indeed for Namur, a city I visited some 45 years ago. You offer us a lovely perspective down the newly reconstituted river. The building on the left is very attractive but the whole area has a pleasant ambience about it. Very well exposed with superb colours and clarity and some delicious reflections.

Hallo John,
Wat een prachtig gezicht langs het kalme water hier met de gebouwen in verschillende stijlen langs de kant. De spiegelingen zijn heel mooi en het zachte licht zorgde voor heel aangename kleuren.

Hi John
The curving canal with its lovely reflections adds strong lead in lines towards the bg. Good sharpness and marvellous warm cold colour contrasts between the red brick buildings and the blue sky. Tfs!

Hello John,
It is good news for the city when investment improves conditions for residents and visitors.
Surely this is one of the most attractive cities in w. Europe.
You have used your evident skill of fine composition to produce a photograph that is almost impossible to improve upon!
I presume that you were situated on a bridge when you composed this, so that the river and associated river walkways become irresistible guide lines, directing us from the f/g to the b/g bridge.
There are some sharp, attractive details along the way, of eclectic buildings, figures and shimmering reflections.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello John,
Endless POV's over the beautiful town canal and architecture's jewels.
The curve of the waterway gave extra depth to the composition, which is immaculately presented.
Good afternoon,

Bonsoir John,
I don’t understand... This must be Gent I suppose but you filled in : Namur?
Anyway, it is a very nice wideview on the river, it is really sharp so we can see any detail.
Lovely photo indeed!
Amicalement,
Viviane
