MIDDELBURG Belgium
Saints Peter and Paul Church
History
The late Gothic church, dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul, was built in 1452 on the initiative of Pieter Bladelin near his newly built castle. In 1458, the construction of the church was completed and P. Bladelin acquired parish rights for his church. In 1470 a chapter of six canons was attached to the church and in 1480 the church was made a Collegiate Chapter. Before 1559 the parish came under the diocese of Tournai, deanery Aardenburg, later the deanery and the parish belonged to the diocese of Bruges, now the parish falls under the diocese of Ghent, deanery Maldegem.

Hello John,
This must have been a very nice day for March. We don't often get such a blue sky at that time of the year.
From this angle we get a good view of the church through the gap between a smaller stone building and the impressive hedge. Somehow the design of the church seems original to me. The fine light gave you wonderful colours and sharpness.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi John,
The church is well placed in the frame. The point of view is howing the details of the St.Peters and Paul church. The quality of the light beautifies the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi John,
I see it was not easy to take the photo of this attractive church since it is tightly built around.
You have selected an optimal angle here where you have used the obstacles as original framing for the church architecture.
Fantastic clarity, sharpness and colors, that was a glorious weather day.
Excellent work,
M

Hallo John,

Hello John, an excellent shot of the church, the sharp quality is so good.
Even though some parts of the picture are in shade, we can still see all the details clearly.
Lovely colours.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello John, Interesting church. I found it on Google map and maybe it would be better to show it from another viewpoint. Here the wall on the left side and the high hedge on the right are a bit disturbing. Excellent light and colours.
Best regards MAlgo

Hello John,
You had a very good day for this photograph, with excellent light and a blue sky, with just the hint of clouds.
You positioned yourself well, using the the gap between the building and the hedge as a lead towards the church.
The details are pin sharp in your photograph and because of the f/g features, have a good sense of depth.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi : John
Was Belgian architecture greatly influenced by the grandeur of France, the simplicity and stability of Germany, and the rational architecture of the Netherlands? I would believe that the church building was built in the late 19th or early 20th century.
It's incredible that it was built with such solid bricks in the 15th century. It's a beautiful, restrained church structure.

Hi John,
You chose a good angle for showing this classic church. Between the green fence and brick wall of the foreground building it doesn't look massive. Sidelight works well. Green hues on the roof are quite special.

Hello John,
An architecture's jewel, must say, the church has an impressive and beautiful outlines.
I can only asume the only way to show a wide view is from the side trail and through.
favorable light brought out best of colors here.
Good afternoon,

Hi John.
Splendid brick Gothic church, something that always surprises me, in Spain they are generally built in stone, I suppose from what I see that it has the shape of a Latin cross, a very beautiful eight-sided dome.
A magnificent range of colors, in very attractive tones.
Good brightness and sharpness management.
Very well done. Love it.
Have a great day.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hi John
A cool looking old church depicting its beautiful architecture. The foreground feature is a great lead-in and the shadows hold in the scene well. Excellent photography!
