Photographer's Note
‘Kortrijk - The Wonderful World of Abstraction’
Another work of art that I saw at 'Paradise Kortrijk 2021' is one of the artist Jacob Dahlgren (°1970, Sweden) who graduated in 1999 from The Royal Institute of Fine Arts in Stockholm.
You will have to look in the WS to get a general idea of the artwork.
There I show two photos of the work as a whole, each in a different arrangement.
For my main photo I chose a shot of some details taken in the middle of the work.
After all, the artist encourages you to enter his work, to be completely absorbed and to lose yourself in it.
My main photo shows a view upwards.
This work was set up in the beguinage as you can see in the WS.
Vision of the artist:
Jacob Dahlgren invites the audience to disappear into a colourful sea of ribbons.
On the outside ‘The Wonderful World of Abstraction’ comes to life through people who are meandering in and out of the fields of colour. When entering the artwork, you become completely absorbed and invisible to bystanders.
Paintings become useful objects in his research on how art and our daily life are connected.
What fascinates him is the interaction between body and object. The artist shows us the beauty that is hidden in everyday life.
Materials: Satin ribbons, steel, 550 cm Ø, 400 cm H.

Hallo Paul,

Hello Paul,
The colors are beautiful. Good light management, too. The upward look was well worth it.

Hallo Paul
Vibrant colour and a good upward pov with excellent sharpness and nice repetition of patterns and shapes. Effective tight framing with no wasted space. Tfs!

Good morning Paul,
The Ws gave a good understanding of what we see on the main photo.
An idea for the POV that you masterfully conveyed the impact for this compo. with abundance of colors.
Have a nice sunday,

Salut Paul,
excellent effet très photogénique sous cet angle de vue, bon rendu des teintes, parfaite netteté et bon effet de profondeur d'image avec cette contre plongée, intéressant oeuvre.

Hello Paul,
I realized after some research that I saw this installation, or a very similar one, in Helsinki a few years ago. This outdoor location made it easier to take photos than inside the museum where I saw it. This is probably the brightest photo of the day on TE, but the WS are necessary to understand what we are looking at. I didn't know this artist but there are many different, but equally interesting works of his shown on the net.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Paul, the perspective you have created is really impressive, before looking at the WS it looks like a very high composition, really a great idea! This artist's style looks like a kind of Christo in color, once again a nice surprise from this town full of opportunities! Have a nice Sunday and thanks,Luciano

Hello Paul,
In my opinion, you created more than the original artist!
This view upwards creates a dynamic sense of movement, as the ribbons encourage us to follow their lead, either up or down.
I was a little disappointed by the entire view of the art. It looked a little more interesting when tied back.
Have a good Sunday, Bev :-)

Goedemiddag Paul,
Goed foto werk, bedankt.
Prettige zondag,
John

Hello Paul, you made the best choice for the main post, such a colourful introduction to this work of art.
The w/s shots help us to understand the piece, thank you.
You managed the light so well, with no over-exposure.
I am sure that children and adults alike would have enjoyed the experience.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Paul,
Great shot! The POV and vibrant colors really stand out. In the WS we just see a bunch of ribbons placed together, but depending on how we view them, they become works of art. Take care!

Hello Paul,
In the Workshop, it doesn't look especially interesting. Maybe I could make such art by myself. Just the colourful ribbons. But here from inside it looks fascinating. Stunning picture.

Hi Paul,
Very interesting art installation. I like the fact that as you wrote you may be literally absorbed by the art here when you decide to enter it.
I suppose you can meet other people there as well.
I like all sorts of art as long as it is colorful like here or shiny :)
Great reportage,

Hello Paul,
As first I thought you were inside or shall I say ... visiting a Tibet's temple.
Now I know why its called 'Abstraction' :-)
I love this kind sort of artwork ... it's playful and fun , once inside it becomes disorientated at the same feeling excited. Exactly what's the picture shown here.
I do like the setup in WS1. For the WS2 , I like to see it in real esp when its moves with the wind.
It's a very clever simple artwork and three wonderful photos taken in a different arrangement.
Tfs,
Loong
