Photographer's Note
‘Bredene - Dunes and beaches of the North Sea’
My last photos of dunes and beaches to end my short series on my visit to the seaside.
Luckily I had gone during weekdays with the first nice weather in March.
During the Easter holidays that have just ended, a total of about 2,5 million overnight stays were recorded on the coast in Belgium.
You should know that our coast is only 65 km long.
The success was due to the beautiful weather in the second week of the holiday and during the Easter weekend.
The atmosphere is completely different on busy days. Just like in the summer holidays. Many love it, but I prefer the coast on calm (and preferably sunny) days in a different season.
------
Across this sea lies a strange and mysterious land (not visible from Belgium, only from certain places in France).
Historically and culturally it is a part of Europe.
However, a few years ago a majority of their population chose to distance themselves a little more from Europe.
Since October 2021 we’re no longer allowed to enter the UK with our national identity card, but we need a passport. Hard to believe that by their exit of the EU they require all visitors of EU-countries to show a passport upon arrival.
With my regular Belgian identity card I can visit Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Kosovo and Albania, all countries that are not a member of the EU. Some have applied for membership, others do not want this at all. But they all admit visitors from the EU on presentation of the national identity card.
So what’s actually the UK's intention???

Hello Paul,
The main photo gives us the best general view of the coastal scenery of sand and dunes. Photographically I also like WS #2 with the different layers of sand and water, a person and a boat. But the three photos are all interesting and show us an area almost totally free of visitors on an ordinary day off season.
Across the water, not visible from here, is the strange country that plans to redirect refugees from, for instance, the Middle East to Rwanda (of all places), regardless if the have a passport, a national identity card or no papers at all.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Paul,4 beautiful photos from the dunes and beaches of the North Sea on these sunny winter days. The first is truly spectacular, I also really like the wide view of the beach, which in summer is full of people but which I prefer to see so deserted, the sea in winter always has its charm! Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hello Paul,
This beautiful scenery could be in Netherlands too ... if you can walk along the coast to the east, where no identity card or passport is needed :-)
I'm always fascinated how these dunes are formed, not only that ... they protect us from the storm surge , how amazing.
You were so lucky with the weather and the whole dunes to yourself ... so free and spacious.
The grass rustling in the wind, feeling the warm sunshine breeze like a soft hairbrush, brushing across the face. When I look at this picture.
Of all the pictures in the WS, this is the best one. In fact, I did enjoy all the photos ... in your short visit to the seaside. Wonderful !!!
Tfs,
Loong
Actually, the UK's intention was good ... in the beginning.
Now ... I've a feeling that they're in denial about the Brexit mess.
I guess that it could work well , if they know what to do to fix the mess.

Hello Paul, four good shots that give us a good impression of the Belgian coast.
I like the empty beaches that you have shown us.
Hard to imagine as to how busy they get in the summer.
The North Sea water will be quite cool I think?
Kind regards, Jean.

Bonjour Paul,

HI Paul
It looks like the area is a bit windy with only very low vegetation. A good photo with the angled beach stretching almost to the horizon.
cheers

Hello Paul,
Not a fan of Boris. It was his idea to embrace Brexit claiming the UK was pumping hundreds of millions of pounds into the EU with little to show for it. A gross exaggeration no doubt. And he is in trouble again this week. Hope he gets voted out. People are tired of politicians with one rule or no rules for them and another rule for everyone else. Nice elevated view of the North sea dunes and beaches. Tfs!

Hello Paul,
You show us a whole string of different photographs so that we obtain a very strong perception of the Belgian seaside in early spring!
They all have different colours or different views, quite a shock from what we would see at the height of the holiday season but ... very definitely more relaxing.
I like all of them for different reasons but I think my favourite is the view looking through the dunes towards the sea. I like how the grasses anchor the f/g and the gap offers an almost secretive access to the beach and the glimpse of a boat out at sea!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Paul,
You have a wonderful series of sea views. On this one I especially like varying shades of blue green and brown on otherwise simple seaside scene. I have not visited the shore of Belgium, one more destination to go some day.

Hi Paul
This coast is similar to those in the Gulf of Mexico, but less hot I think. Nice shot.

Hello Paul.
After a few days of vacation on the island of Menorca, I am again in these pages, with you.
Sensational view of these dunes, with the greenery of the grass, something that surprises us because almost always we see dunes it is in terrain with low humidity, the photos of the WS are also ideal, what a beautiful landscape, also seen like this without people, it impacts even more force of nature.
A magnificent color that gives a lot of chromatic richness to the image.
Very good management of lighting and sharpness.
Well done. I like it.
I wish you a pleasant week.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hi Paul,
This is a beautiful series pf beach photos from Belgium. Each showing yet a different aspect of it. The dunes are my favorite especially that the other one show the concrete jungle. The main picture feels so desolated, I would never guess it is densely populated Belgium,
Excellent work,
M

I presume the coldest beach in brazil should be more warm than this one. a nice view, from this angle it looks like a wild beach despite we can see some human-ants here and there. a nice view of a not so frequently photographed part of the country.
take care
jorge
