‘Villers-la-Ville - General overview of Villers Abbey’
The grounds of Villers Abbey covered more than 36 hectares.
There isn’t one place where all buildings can be seen in one view.
This here is the view showing you most of the ruins.
Malgo once showed a similar photo from the same hill. Indeed, Malgo was here!
Her photo was taken in another season and was shown on TE almost 6 years ago. So I thought a new version couldn't hurt.
In the WS, two other views taken from the top of the hill.

Hi Paul
Of course Malgo has been here, where hasn't she been...I know, she hasn't been to Vancouver :) That's a fact. this place is astounding. Its amazing that those circular windows are still in place like that, I know the glass isn't there, but the form and shapes are. amazing. This would be a wonderful place to Drone. awesome shots. cheers

Hello Paul,
I don't remember Malgo's pictures but I'm not surprised that she's been here. When she goes to an area she makes sure to see everything, like a cultural vacuum cleaner. ;-)
Well, this is big anyway, really impressive, and we see that it's situated in nice surroundings, which will probably look even nicer in summer. Among all details my eyes are especially drawn to the high wall with round windows, even more clearly seen in the second WS.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Paul, three excellent shots that show us how extensive the ruins are, with some delightful architectural details still in evidence. The round windows and the arches illustrate the skill of the builders, and they are still here for you to capture and share with us.
Lovely sharp quality.
Kind regards, Jean.

Bonjour Paul,
Les arbres aident au cadrage de la scène. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails des ruines de l'abbaye de Villers. La lumière donne de belles teintes aux couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.

Gosh, Paul, it isn't until you see this wide view that you can fully understand the extent of the monastery! It was an immense building complex and, surprisingly, many of the upper floor walls are still there, giving a strong impact!
Quite often, quality stones, from abandoned buildings, were robbed to create new buildings. I bet that happened here for there would be lots of stone, for free!
It was interesting to learn that Malgo had been here. But, I think she has visited most attractive or historic places!!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Paul,
I thought the UK is so original in respect to ruined abbeys!
Great series of photos, I see you have made a proper walk and explored various points of view.
Elevetaed perspective certainly helped to see a wider scene and the natural context of the ruins.
Beautiful reportage,
M

Hallo Paul,
Een mooie en duidelijke overzichtsfoto van dit abdijcomplex. Vooral de vele bogen van de lege ramen vallen op en zorgen voor een mooi patroon. Het voorjaarslicht is aangenaam en helder.

Pozdrav.
Lep pogled, dobar tekst ...
Lepa stara arhitektura i drvece u pozadini, dobro pokazano sa lepim bojama, kontrastom i perspektivom.
Dobar rad sa lepim fotografijama u radionici.
Lepa rusevina.
Zelim vam sve najbolje u novoj nedelji koja je pocela.

Hello Paul,
Here I am again. :-) I like how you were able to get a slightly elevated view for this shot. The different parts of the ruins are interesting. The center section with the circular windows really catches my eye. I hope you're doing well. Take care!
