Photographer's Note

In total, there are 7 main lakes at Plitvice National Park, with countless smaller ones, but I only had time to visit 5 of them. This one is the largest and has a regular passenger boat across the lake to the other side. It's a nice break from walking and a good opportunity to just sit back and enjoy the scenery. Unfortunately, no swimming is allowed in the national park as sunburn cream / lotions /oil and soap pollute the lakes. So I swam in the sea around Hvar Island instead, offshore from Split. The elevation ranges from 367 m (Korana bridge), to 1279 m.

Hello Chris, You and Gerrit are neighbors today and you show similar pictures. The Plitvice National Park is one of the most beautiful in the world, with all lakes, waterfalls, and forests. I was there 40 years ago and I would like to go there once more somewhen. Awesome colours and sharpness. Probably the water is cold here and I think it is good that swimming is forbidden here. It would spoil the pristine nature of the place. And swimming in the Adriatic is fabulous.

On the thumbnail I didn抰 noticed all those people who still wanted to go on board, so I was surprised about the title.
It's a pity you can't swim in this beautiful lake, but the reason is understandable of cuurse.

Hello Chris,

It is both interesting and pleasing that legislation is in place to protect the environment. One or two people swimming would have little effect but at a holiday destination, this could easily have a big impact!
I particularly like the light on the trees and how it reflects onto the water.

Hello Chris,
The trees provide wonderful green and slightly yellow tones, and the view is further enhanced by the numerous small waterfalls. The forest looks beautifully dense, fresh and healthy, as should be expected in a national park. The photo benefits a lot from the small boat and the many persons standing on the jetty, and of course from the fine light and colours.

Chris, Plitvice is a natural jewel of Croatia.� Many tourists we can see on the jetty in the bg, are attracted by the waterfalls and the emerald lakes found in the national park. The passenger boat is the best way to discover that fascinating area.

Croatia has fantastic landscapes, great lakes and rivers with waterfalls and cascades, I havent seen the Plitvice Lakes but I have see Bacinskie Lakes, really a great area

Hello Chris,
Many people are waiting to take the boat but it seems to have room for everyone.
The lake has a wonderful green colour. Under the trees we can also spot some smaller waterfalls.

Hello Chris,
The stunning of the water colors is very typical to this region, almost every lake has this tones, some way of another.
There are small waterfalls under the shaded part of the far side trees, which growing on the water's edge. Beautiful sight, well shown.

the elevation of this park is similar that my small region, from iva� river to the mountains.
nice perspective with the lake surrounded by the forest and the crowd closed in a spot.
