Photographer's Note

If you look carefully, you can see 5 separate waterfalls spilling from the upper lake in the background, to the lower lake in the fg. Plitvice Lakes was a highlight of Croatia for me, & not to be missed.

Hi Chris!
Looking at the image, my first thought was:The lake in the distance must be higher elevated but know reading your note I know why.
A great shot of this untouched nature with good bright colors.So many different green tones and great contrast with the blue/turquoise water.

Chris, a natural jewel of Croatia. The emerald lakes, the waterfalls, the densely forested hills form a splendid setting. A superb postcard. Fine colors, perfect sharpness, regards.

Hello Chris,
It comes down to finding those spots that are located sufficiently high and where no trees obstruct the view as you did here. I don't know how easy that was in 2015 when you were there.
I visited the former Yugoslavia in 1982 and remember large posters of this national park were displayed just about all over the country. Once on the spot I noticed that all these posters were views taken from a helicopter. Today one would use a drone.
Despite the fact that I walked a lot for several days, I found it very difficult to get a panorama like you did here. I knew when I was in the right place, but branches and foliage obstructed the view.
No idea whether meanwhile branches have been cut off in certain places ... You wouldn't think so in a national park.
Perhaps this photo is the result of a long search. I guess you didn't take a drone with you.
By the way, this is a superb photo. Both as to what we see as well as the colours, the composition, sharpness and brightness.
And yes, I can see five separate waterfalls.

Hello Chris, Plitvice lakes are obviously a 'must see' when in Croatia; I have never been fortunate to go there, but I have seen such lovely pictures on TE, that if I am ever in Croatia it would be on my list.
The forests surround the beautiful turquoise water, and we can see waterfalls spilling their water into the lakes.

Hello Chris, I was in Plitvice long before the war. I remember how impressed I was with the beauty of the lakes and waterfalls. Marvellous colours and sharpness.

Hello Chris,

This looks like a gem of a setting!
The azure coloured water of the two lakes, is separated by an eclectic mix of green hues and textures.
The sunlit f/g and the more shaded b/g helps to convey a good sense of depth.
