Photographer's Note

BORDEAUX is a major city in the south-west of France. There are many (great) regions for wine in France, yet still for many people Bordeaux stands for wine.

We stopped here on our way back home from Spain, spending just a couple days here, but really liked the vibe of the city and plan to head back some day.

THIS PICTURE shows the Place de la Bourse. With its neo-classicist architecture dating from the 18th century, this landmark square by the river Garonne is one of the main sights in the city of wine.

(Sorry for the advertizing billboard that ruins the sight a bit, imho. Commercialism does not equal beauty.)

Very elegant architecture but the most impressive is here the shiny pavement. So smooth that it feels as if people were walking on the mirrors. Perfect occasion for a photographer, which you have well used.

The buildings are very fine, and the central building is a good focal point.

Goedenavond Benny,

Is de voorgrond zo nat ik zie mensen op blote voeten dus zou het wel water kunnen zijn.
Maar i uw nota lees ik niets of heb het niet perfect begrepen.

Ook als panorama mag dit beeld gezien worden.

Wet pavement shows lovely reflections. Is this a fountain, as it seems that those round details could be water sprays? Wide open square with classic buildings is impressive of course. I agree about the billboard.

Hallo Benny,
Met je plan om ooit terug te gaan naar Bordeaux zit je goed. Je zal er immers in augustus a.s. opnieuw zijn. Deze foto uit de toekomst werd ons vandaag al getoond.
Ik weet niet of hetgeen we zien een blijvende situatie is of een toeval dat zowat heel dit plein onder water staat.
Het oogt in ieder geval bijzonder prachtig. De mooie gebouwen worden schitterend weerspiegeld.
Mooi gepresenteerd met de voorbijgangers op de voorgrond.
Ik hoop dat het gebouw net links van het midden in restauratie is en daarom schuil gaat achter een reusachtig reclamebord.

Was this taken after rain or are those permanent pools. Whatever the water has provided great reflections of the grand buildings.

Hello Benny, Splendid view of this square in Bordeaux. Especially with the reflections after the rain, it looks attractive. I see the girl bare feet. Must have been fun.
The big billboard ruins a bit the view, they do not think about the photographers. Haha, you could clone the part of the right side to cover it, haha.
