Photographer's Note
Outside a bistrò, I saw a byke partially covered with onions, remembering the story of the Johnnies, as were called young men from Roscoff who used, between the Wars, to cross the channel and go to England to sell one of the most prized products, the "onion rosè".
In Roscoff there is a small museum, Maisons des Johnnies, who tells the story of this significant trade.

Hi Alex,
Charming, romantic shot. Reminds me of the BBC Series "Aló, Aló" with the British Airmen disguised as onion sellers riding their bikes on the wrong side of the road.

Hello Alex,
Black and White was entirely appropriate for this reminder of the past. Actually, I remember the Onion Johnnies coming to England throughout the 1950s -- and very welcome they were. We lived about twenty miles north of London and bought strings off the bicycles every year. Thanks for the memory and the nice shot -- which, by the way, I think deserves a frame.
Regards,
Mary
