Photographer's Note

The Lantern Tower is one of the three towers in La Rochelle. It was built in the 15th century and has had many uses. It was a watch tower monitoring the passage of ships, a lighthouse and a maritime navigation landmark. It was also used as a prison. In the spire are four rooms one above the other and on the walls there are 600 pieces of graffiti carved by soldiers and prisoners.
It is the oldest lighthouse on the Atlantic coast.

Hello David,
The illumination of the tower in the darkness has had a good effect on the atmosphere and underscored the roughness of the wall. It's a well exposed photo, and it's one of those pictures that look considerably much sharper when opened in a new tab.

This close-up is very effective!
The streams of light, descending from the lamps, illuminates the curved wall in such a way that it seems as if we could touch it and feel its irregular surface.
Your photograph looks dramatic, even as a thumbnail.
