One in a series of pictures from the beautiful Southern French city of Aix-en-Provence.

Aix-en-Provence is a city and commune in the south of France, some 30 kilometres (19 miles) north of Marseille. It is in the region of Provence-Alpes-C魌e d'Azur, in the d閜artement of Bouches-du-Rh鬾e, of which it is a subprefecture. The population is approximately 143,000.; its inhabitants are called Aixois or, less commonly, Aquisextains.

Aix (Aquae Sextiae) was founded in 123 BC by the Roman consul Sextius Calvinus, who gave his name to its springs, following the destruction of the nearby Gallic oppidum at Entremont. In 102 BC it was the scene of the Battle of Aquae Sextiae when the Romans under Gaius Marius defeated the Cimbri and Teutones, resulting in mass suicide among the captured women; a story which passed into Roman legends of Germanic heroism.

In the 4th century AD it became the metropolis of Narbonensis Secunda. It was occupied by the Visigoths in 477. In the succeeding century, the town was repeatedly plundered by the Franks and Lombards, and was occupied by the Saracens in 731 and by Charles Martel in 737. During the Middle Ages it was made the capital of Provence The city reached its zenith during the period after the 12th century, when, under the houses of Barcelona/Aragon and Anjou, it became an artistic centre and seat of learning. It still has a major university and a large student population.

Aix passed to the crown of France with the rest of Provence in 1487, and in 1501 Louis XII established there the parliament of Provence, which existed until 1789 when it was abolished under the French Revolution. In the 17th and 18th centuries, the town was the seat of the Intendance of Provence.

Lep pogled, interesantan i dobar tekst ...
Lepo pokazano mesto i arhitektura, dobra perspektiva i kontrast, lepe boje. Lepo zeleno drvece i fasada kuce, lepi prozori i dimnjaci.

Another lovely photograph from Aix-en-Provence.
Your nicely angled aspect creates a natural guide from right to left, into the scene, where the details are sharp and the advancing figure animates.
This photograph has a similar effect as that you posted yesterday.
I wonder if it was the programme you used five years ago or whether you did use HDR

sono stato ad Aix molti anni fa, ma ricordo una citt� molto tranquilla ed era piacevole passeggiare tra le strade del centro.
Magari adesso le cose sono cambiate, in ogni caso la tua foto mi trasmette proprio le sensazioni che ricordo.

What a wonderful photo of this idyllic street. The composition is very well-balanced between the houses and their fine and warm pastel colours and the green garden on the right. The light was lovely too and well managed.
