Longue de huit kilom鑤res, la zone de d閎arquement s'閠end sur la c魌e occidentale du Calvados, depuis Sainte-Honorine-des-Pertes � l'est jusqu'� Vierville-sur-Mer � l'ouest, sur la rive droite de l'estuaire de la Douve. L'objectif � Omaha est de s'emparer et, ensuite, de tenir une t阾e de pont de huit kilom鑤res de profondeur entre Port-en-Bessin et la Vire et, d鑣 que possible, de faire la jonction � l'est avec les Britanniques et � l'ouest avec le VIIe Corps am閞icain d閎arqu� � Utah Beach afin d'閠ablir une t阾e de pont continue sur la c魌e normande

Bonjour Serge,

La distance entre la plage et l'horizon donne de la profondeur � la composition. La prise de vue permet de voir les d閠ails de la plage Omaha et des falaises. Le ciel nuageux ne nuit pas au rendu des couleurs. Bonne journ閑.

Hello Serge,
Those cliffs explain why Omaha Beach was perhaps the most difficult of the landing zones to get a foothold on. Excellent perspective along the cliffs toward the distant headland. Fine rendering of the colours and good textural detail despite the inhospitable sky and flat lighting.

A good view down the shoreline of Omaha Beach between the cliffs and the grey sea. The composition is well-balanced and I like the natural colours.

This Is a most appropriate photograph!
Tomorrow will be the 75 Anniversary of D-Day.
Your photograph shows one of the sites of the landings, now looking calm and tranquil but the memories are still in the minds of those involved!

There have been some remarkable photographs, music, displays, personal accounts and letters combined, to give a sensitive account of what happened on that incredible day! They have been very moving!

I look at my watch. Only a few hours until the first paratroopers will land in Normandy.

75 years ago.

It was the first day of the final steps to the end of the Third Reich. Omaha Beach became a coffin, but this had to be done.

What a world would have now if Germany had won the war?

Oh how times have changed havn't they. It looks so peaceful now. Here we can get a real sense of just how steep the cliffs are, must have been almost impossible to battle here when you're on the beach down below. Interesting views, nice shot

At a glance this is in Winter but I am a little surprised taken at the end of May. Anyway proportion of the coast and land is so touchy and delicate. Deep exposure setting makes so sharp and clear presnetation from rear to front at all.

Bonjour, cher Serge,
Mes parents avaient une propri閠� � Cabourg ville baln閍ire situ閑 � proximit� des plages du d閎arquement. Mon p鑢e, ancien aviateur, m'a fait conna顃re les plages et l'historique relatif au d閎arquement. A ce propos, j'esp鑢e ne pas avoir dit de b阾ise au sujet des ponts (photo de ton album).
Les plages normandes sont belles et surtout peu dangereuses pour les enfants.
Merci pour cet hommage rendu pour le D-Day !

Tu es bien dans l'actualit� des comm閙orations avec cet autre vue d'une plage du d閎arquement. Bon effet de perspective, bon contraste de teintes entre herbe (verte), sable(blond) et mer (presque bleue).

Bloody Omaha-Lest we forget the thousands of American heroes who fell there. The beach gives me a greater appreciation of the mass of the beach and water. Even though the weather was not your side, it's well organised as a record shot to bring all its features to your best. Well done
