The Lighthouse at the End of the World, a photo from Poitou-Charentes, West

Photographer's Note

The Bout du Monde lighthouse in... La Rochelle! This is an identical replica of Patagonia's "lighthouse at the end of the world" which was built in 1884 on an island at the end of Tierra del Fuego.
This replica was built in 2000 here on the edge of this Charente-Maritime coast. A particularly original lighthouse, with an octagonal structure and in wood, which was undergoing maintenance when my photo was taken.

Hello Jean,
It's an interesting building, rather different from most lighthouses I have seen. The upper floor looks like it could be used for a nice bar, if the visitors could reach it without getting wet. The colours are nice and the photo is neatly composed.

Bonjour Jean,
The scaffolding and the plastic sheeting add a sense of mystery to this unusual lighthouse, so we have to imagine what lies beneath!
Nicely composed, the gulls in flight add a little life to the scene.

I have been on Tierra del Fuego but I cannot remember seeing this lighthouse. Obviously I didn't see ALL of the island so maybe I just missed the spot. Well at least I can enjoy its relica in your photo :)

not a very tall lighthouse is it? I guess the water doesn't get too crazy here, otherwise it would be taller. It may be deceiving, but it looks like you could simply walk to it from where you're standing hahaha. fun shot and subject

Hello Jean,
A very good capture of this lighthouse in the sea. You placed it really well in the left hand side of the composition. Also the many gulls flying around in the foreground make a great addition.

The seagull both in flight and foraging along the shoreline add good focal points. The standalone wooden lighthouse rising abruptly from the sea provides an interesting subject matter. Good sharpness and framing. Tfs!

I have not seen images of the Patagonian lighthouse, but this replica of it seems very interesting and rustic, all made of wood.
