Photographer's Note

It hadn't rained for weeks and it was very hot .. so the wasps looked for a drink in the swimming pool. The were sitting on the water. The sun was right above (12 at noon)so we could see the shadow made by the body and the six legs.

hi bob, beautiful moment you captured with very good definition! IMO the composition would gain if the object was not centered but in one of the thirds. the kind of abstract background emphasizes you object - did you make any desaturation or is it natural?

Die vindt ik wel leuk en goed gezien.
Zeker een goede illustratie van licht diffractie in het water.

Gordes is een zeer schoon dorpje... met nog veel andere plaatsen te fotografieren ;-)

hello Bob,
I like this shot as I recognized the shadow form: I have a garden pond with pond skater insects and they have a very similar blobby shadow. So well done for capturing this as I have not been able to.

Strange and very interesting result � very well seen. Great contrast between the colorful wasp and the gray background. I would crop the image tighter to highlight the wasp and its shadow. Excellent work.
