CUSTOMS HOUSE, KERLOUAN, BRITTANY

This customs house is situated in the village of Menez-Ham, parish of Kerlouan, North-West coast of Brittany.

First a watch house, incorporated in the Vauban's coastal defence system. Then, customs settled in this place above the beach in the 18th Century. They built house hidden behind the rocks. In the 19th century, seaweed fishers lived in the village. Around 1950, the village was deserted and houses lots their roofs. The village have been renovated and is now a country life museum.
