Photographer's Note
he only non cycling day on our trip was in Sorge, a tiny village in the Harz, where once was the boundary between East- and West Germany. In Sorge only people who, lived there could come. They had a special pass to be in the area. Other people from East Germany that dwelled here were arrested as people who tried to flee.

Hello Gerrit,
This looks nice but is a sad reminder of a darker European past. The road is quite unusual, like maybe it was only built for tanks and other military vehicles. Not much has happened here even 30 years after reunification.
Regards,
Gert

Hello Gerrit
A sad time in History for sure. And interesting image. Is the strips of concrete part of the old wall?. The lengths man will go to for the purpose of control. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Gerrit,I have always been interested in the story of the attempts to escape from East Germany, unfortunately many deaths but also many successful and often truly brilliant attempts, like the home-built balloon. Very useful post, a border that fortunately no longer exists, abandoned to its fate like the communist past. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hallo Gerrit,

Goed foto werk, bedankt.
Prettige avond,
John

Hi Gerrit
It is good that some reminder of the wall has been kept. Good composition with the wall remains coming in from the left hand side as a leading line.
cheers

Hi Gerrit,
Peaceful looking woodland. I can imagine there are quite a few hikers on this area. And on the era of East Germany this was lonely outpost where very few people were admitted. That path creates strong perspective.

Dag Gerrit
You trigger in my mind a touching souvenir of the year '89; I watched on tv the exuberant manifestations of people 'from the East' when they demolished the Berliner Mauer.
This narrow path leading to unsure liberty and armored shelter were quite significant of their grievance.
Thanks for this piece of history which is masterly captured.
Met vriendelijke groeten
