Photographer's Note
Daily life nine months after the floodings of July 14/15, 2021, in Rhineland-Palatinate and Northrhine-Westphalia.
This here stands pars pro toto. A traditional café and hotel at Altenahr, completely destroyed by the waters which reached far into the first floor.
ALL restaurants and hotels of Altenahr were stricken the same way, all are still closed nine months after the deluge, and now you even won't get a decent cup of coffee in that village.
But it seemed to me that two of them have made so much progress in renovation that reopening within two or three months seems possible.
