Despite the sunny impression, this is a scene of devastation.
The image shows what used to be the track of Ahr valley railway. The rails have been stored up here. The crossties are piled up in large heaps in front of the half-timbered building in the background. Which once was the station of Dernau and hopefully will be the same again in a few years. In the meantime, it is used as a service point for the locals and offers a small shop as all other shops have been ruined by a flood that reached the middle of the second floors, exactly half a year ago.
Craftsmen (or -women, of course) and donations are still urgently needed.
