Photographer's Note

Eckernfoerde is a summer resort on the Baltic coast of Schleswig-Holstein, about 65 miles North of Hamburg and 35 South of the Danish border. Situated on the banks of the Eckernfoerde Bay, the harbour has a unique waterfront location only a short distance from the city centre. Imagine that in the 19th century this city was one of the largest fishing towns on the Baltic Sea with a huge fish-processing industry. One third of the town憇 population of 6,000 was dependent on the fishery industry. But this centuries-old industry has steadily lost importance, and today the Eckernfoerde fishing fleet consists of just a handful of boats. It is in the tourist area that the harbor is now thriving, as a result of the construction of a marina for leisure craft. Further communal structural improvements to upgrade the harbor area have been quite successful.

nice the scenery with the boat to leave in the port of the village with the brilliant light of the day to enhance the beauty as the details of it.I like the excellent light management with the quality of the image to be superb.

Hello Harriet,
a delightfully vivid and very lovely scene from the daily activity in the peaceful harbour. The placement of the boat is perfect as it allowed you to include the reflections, convey movement and fill the lower part of the frame in a rewarding way. The background is clear and has an attractive, picturesque character. It's also interesting that the fisherman is looking towards the birds. The quality of the light and the colours is superb. I have visited Eckernfoerde last summer. I do not recognize the exact spot, but I recognize the atmosphere. It certainly is a beautiful area, and being a Dane, I felt right at home.
It is a very pleasant and well composed photo with many good qualities. Exelent light and colors.

Die typischen roten H鋟ser am Hafen sind wirklich sehr attraktiv und formen einen sch鰊en Kontrast zum Blau des Meeres. Dazu ein Fischer auf Ausfahrt, die ganze Szene hat eine ruhige und angenehme Stimmung.

Hello Harriet,

It is easy to recognise a change in the weather, in your photographs, for the colours are now stronger and the sky deeper.
The red buildings make a most attractive b/g against which to show the returning boat. You were sensible to leave a gap between the buildings and the boat so they enhance but do not compete with one another.

Alles hier strahlt irgendwie Gelassenheit und Ruhe aus ... die roten Geb鋟de, der Kirchturm, die kleine Werft, das dahin tuckernde Boot, die ruhigen M鰓en - alles.
Das durch die Spiegelung des Himmels wunderbar tiefblaue Wasser und der blass-blaue Himmel heben die roten Geb鋟de richtig hervor. Man m鯿hte dort sein ...!
Wie immer ein sehr guter Begleittext zum Bild!
