Who says that the beach must be boring? Sand is a great material to create fantasy worlds. Your imagination is the only limit. Lubeck in Northern Germany offers throughout the year two exciting festivals: one in the summer, called the Sand World, and another in winter, the Ice World. The same idea but the huge size sculptures are made of sand or ice, respectively. Of course, Lubeck-Travemunde has no monopoly on the idea of making huge sand sculptures. Dzisiaj znowu po sasiedzku Mariusz!
Po miniaturce nie skojarzylem, ze to piaskowe rzezby ;)

I never saw such a sand-sculpture display. Looks intriguing and amazing.
Good choice to include people on side's, added scale and enliven the scene.

Hello Mariusz,

Obviously, the inhabitants of Lubeck enjoy festivals and take advantage of the two different materials, at different times of the year, to give artists a free rein.

I imagine the Sand World is a great attraction in summer. These sculptures, though not permanent of of the highest quality. I like how you have anchored the f/g with soldier. An engaging example before we move the other, huge examples.

Some impressive sand sculptures here for sure. Good sharpness and nice warm cold color contrasts. Haeundae Beach in South Korea and Boracay Island in the Philippines were notable places to see similar artworks in the making. Tfs!

they could to use flowers for sculptures in spring and fruits during the autumn as in many other places. marvelous view of this festival. I liked the use of elements here with the castle ahead. a fabulous artwork, so ephemeral..

A great photo of the beautiful sand sculptures and the impressive sand castle in the background. Many people had come to admire the works of art, which add a nice contrast of warm and cold colours along with the sky.

Every year we get in Ostend at the Belgian coast the samen sand castles and different figures, with international builders
Sharp and clear and colourful presentation

Hello Mariusz,
In Belgium (not yet on the list of the URL you mention) there's also an annual sand sculpture festival by the sea ... But so far I've never visited it ...
The terrain here in Travem黱de seems quite large, given the distance between the soldier in the foreground and the castle on the slope at the back.
Nice picture with the many spectators.
