Photographer's Note
You may have seen this castle and the king’s statue in my previous post from this Sand World festival in Lübeck-Travemünde, taken in year 2005. Here I wanted to give you a chance to have a closer look at its details.
Each year the festival had a special theme:
2002: Lübeck's medieval history as Queen of the Hanseatic League
2003: Wonders of the world and wonder worlds
2004: Myth Olympia
2005: Fabulous & Fairy Tale Kingdom
2006: Free the arena!
2007: Time travel
Unfortunately, it seems both festivals I mentioned in my previous post “Sand World” and “Ice World” are the thing of the past. It illustrates again what I mentioned here so many times, that we travel not only in space but also in time. That is one of the reasons why I believe TrekEarth gallery is so valuable even though there are plenty of maybe better photos available for free online. I found the following information on the German Wikipedia (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sand_World):
The Sand World was a sand sculpture festival in Germany. It took place for the first time from July 12th to September 1st 2002 in Lübeck-Travemünde. On an area of around 10,000 square meters, 450,000 visitors viewed the sand sculptures on the Priwall beach. The sculptures were up to ten meters high. The team comprised around 75 sculptors. Various tools were used, from paintbrushes to trowels. The sand did not come from the Baltic Sea, as the grains are too round here, but from the Meuse River. Sand World 2007 was the last of its kind. The number of visitors - not least due to the rainy summer - fell well short of expectations at around 140,000. The sister project Ice World, in which sculptures were made from ice, also failed to reach the target number of visitors in 2006/2007 and has therefore not taken place since then.

Witaj Mariusz
Must be a scene from the Emperor's new clothes, lol! A pity both the sand and ice festivals are no longer held. Nice warm cold color contrasts and the bg sandcastle looks like a mini Neuschwanstein! Tfs!

Hello Mariusz,
As regards the sculptures and your prowess at photographing them, they are extremely well done!
With regard to the subject, I think this has to be 'The King's New Clothes'. The artist has taken this to the extreme, to show exactly what would be on show! As I fairy story, I never imagined just what would be revealed by 'The New Clothes'! 😆
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Mariusz, a very sharp shot from 'Sand World'.
This must be the children's story of The Emperor's New Clothes.
A well composed shot with people in the background aiding our sense of scale.
I marvel at the artists who can create these pieces.
Interesting notes.
Thanks for sharing, kind regards, Jean.

Hello Mariusz,
Strange to hear that the sand used for these sculptures isn't coming from the sea but from the Meuse River.
This king here may have a nice Disney-like castle to live in, but he doesn't seem to have a well-stocked wardrobe :)
My first idea was whether your daughter appreciated this Disney visit, but maybe she wasn't there yet in 2005 ...
Best regards, Paul

Hello Mariusz,
Another great photo of this fairy-tale world in sand with the king (or Emperor, it looks like the one from the Emperor's New Clothes) in front of the large castle. Wonderful warm sunlight also. I would have really liked to see Lübeck's history in sand as well at the 2002 festival.

KJod mene se vratila zima sa velikom haldnocom preko noci.
Lepe skulpture od peska i dvorac u pozadini, dobro pokazano sa lepim bojama, kontrastom i dobrim tekstom.
lepa fotografija.
Zelim vam lepu i mirnu noc, sve najbolje.

Hi Mariusz
This sand sculpture must surely be about that old story "The Emperors New Clothes". Another good one from Lubeck.

Hi Mariusz,
That sculpture illustrates a well known fairy tale in a graphic manner. What I like about sand sculptures is that they are usually much more interesting and imaginative than other contemporary sculptures, as well as requiring great skill. Good composition including the giant castle in the background.

Hello Mariusz!
To be honest: why take the pains and import sand from the Meuse to the Baltic coast?
What about carrying owls to Athens instead?
BTW: This reminds me very much of a Hyde Park Corner speaker who preached us in 1970: "I tell you: the shorter the penis, the longer the bones!"
So far about details... :-)
We're watching not just squadrons, but full wings of cranes heading north

Hello Mariusz.
Very interesting note, which introduces us to the vision of these spectacular creations with sand, it seems that it must be very difficult to get these ephemeral works of art, especially because of its large size, the castle is impressive with such a large number of towers.
Very good color that increases the attractiveness of the image.
Superb brightness and sharpness management, to enjoy the details.
Well seen and done. I like it.
Have a nice day.
Very best regards.
Luis.
