Olympiapark

Our next stop was Munich (M黱chen in German), the capital and largest city in Bavaria (Bayern). The first day we started at the Olympiapark, which was constructed for the 1972 Summer Olympics. The photo was taken from the 291 metres tall Olympic Tower (Olympiaturm), which has got an observation deck at 190 metres. The Olympic Stadium is in the top half of the photo, the bottom half includes the Olympic Hall and the Aquatic Centre.

Hej Lars,
Med tanke p� att allt detta 鋜 i princip ett halvt sekel gammalt ser det f鰎v錸ansv鋜t modernt och fr鋝cht ut. Allting har v鋖 anv鋘ts en hel del under 錼ens lopp och inte bara varit ett enda skrytbygge, som jag tror det blivit i en del andra olympiska st鋎er. Jag tror du fick med allting fr錸 den h鋜 utkikspunkten. Du fyller hela bildytan med intressanta detaljer, allt f錸gat i klara och fina f鋜ger.

Het is echt een indrukwekkend sportpark en de architectuur is behoorlijk spectaculair. Dat moet in die tijd helemaal spannend zijn geweest.

Hallo Lars,
De Olympische Zomerspelen 1972 in M黱chen roepen bij mij nog steeds als eerste herinnering de gijzeling en het bloedbad op.
Voor de eerste keer in mijn jonge leven was terrorisme zo dichtbij gekomen.
44 jaar later kwamen aanslagen nog veel dichter bij, namelijk op de metrolijn waarmee ik naar mijn werk ging.
Je foto toont een heel mooi deel van het Olympiapark.
De golvende lijnen van de oevers van de vijver en de bijzondere architectuur zorgen voor een aantrekkelijke compositie.
Het grote rad middenin lijkt eigenlijk klein in vergelijking met het stadion dat er naast ligt.

Great bird's eye view, not for the faint of heart or one with acrophobia. BTW, I remember watching the '72 Olympics in B&W. I also remember the theme song, Popcorn.

My only visit to Munich was in early 1972 when they were madly getting ready for the Olympics. A good photo from on high.

A fine picture from the height of the Olimpic-tower, view of the stadiums, big-wheel and surrounding.
This place forever will be remembered in Israel and the world about the terror attack killing 11 israeli sportsmen back in 1972.

Hello Lars,

What an excellent view of Olympiapark!
I remember these Olympics well. A group of Israeli athletes were attacked by terrorists! It was so very sad but such attacks seem very regular now!!

This is a superb view!
The park is so neatly arranged and appears to be protected by spider web roofs!
As always, your photograph is pin-sharp with good, natural colours.

Hi Lars,
As already mentioned, I have a huge sentiment to Munich. This is where I did my PhD and I met my wife.
This is where I bought my first Canion camera as well which I tested in this exact spot. It was however in the predigital times. May be I will scan some of those photos later in the long winter but they will never match your excellent reportage. The clarity and sharpness are amazing here. WE can admire each small detail, almost we can count people on the square below.
This extraordinary roofing is very photogenic and this POV is well presenting it.

Wow ...... Great this great panorama, it is an impressive sight on this beautiful Olympic complex, it seems incredible that since the events that occurred here have impacted us, almost fifty years have passed.
A magnificent coloring that gives a lot of chromatic richness to the image.
