Photographer's Note

A statue of Pythagoras on the waterfront of Pythagorion whom the town is named after. The plaque reads 'Pythagoras of Samos... 580- 496 BC' Wiki has him as 570 -495 BC. 'His philosophy had a major impact on scientists such as Nicolaus Copernicus, Johannes Kepler, and Isaac Newton.' But he is perhaps best remembered for the Pythagorean theorem: "the area of the square whose side is the hypotenuse (the side opposite the right angle) is equal to the sum of the areas of the squares on the other two sides."
