The N醡afjall high-temperature geothermal area lies within the fissure swarm of the Krafla volcanic system and is located north-east from the Lake Myvatn. It is a very active geothermal area and east of the mountain N醡afjall (you can see it in the background), in the area called Hverar鰊d there are many bubbling mud-pools and old steam drill holes. Since much of the ground is covered with yellow sulfur deposits and other chemicals, the landscape is great to take pictures, especially when the light is favourable like it was during my visit. There is also a signed track among the pools, leading to the top of the mountain.

It looks a bit like a photo of the moon, with metallic rocks and lava colors... nice sharpness and POV, with the two people adding scale and sense of distance.
A place i will never go because of the cold, but it looks really different from all places i know!

Hi Attila. Incredible scene, this one. The colours are weird and without the people this could be from another world. There is good detail on the landscape as its texture changes, and the cloud on the slopes is magnificent. The two people help to give us an idea of the scale.

i colori che hai preso, la terra arancione e grigio cemento e quel classico stupendo cielo Islandese a chi non c'� stato possono sembrare falsi, talmente sono unici, rari e caratteristici di quest'isoletta di ghiaccio e fuoco!

Great shot of this grandious landscape and well composed with the hot grey mud and the smoke in the foreground.The orange earth in the center contrasts very well with the darker parts of the image.

There is life on another planet! That's what I'm thinking when I look at your photo.
Impressive landscape, and you did captured it beautifully.
Again a layered composition, from gray to orange, to light brown and again the gray of the sky, this gives a wonderful balance to the image. I like also how you constructed the diagonal from the accent in the foregroud, the little pool of water ant the 2 persons on their way. I can only learn from you.

The rugged landscape combines with interesting hues here in this well composed shot. What really gives it sizzle though is the texture of the land in the swirling geothermal myriad of folds. I also like the way the textured and dramatic sky blends with the foreground. Very fine work, Attila. My compliments.

What a landscape! Quite Incredible... The compo is brilliantly done with the contrast between the grey ashes & the orange sulphur laden ground further down. And then the contrast between the light & shadow of the cloud. This is straight out of a sci-fi movie. I envy you for all the sites you've visited...& thanks for sharing all the lovely pictures

Bel titolo, paradiso o inferno?? Una immagine ad un filo dalla fantascienza, sembra un paesaggio marziale. Bello il contrasto tra la terre rossa e quella color ghiaccio e poi l'ombra delle nuvole cupe completano la composizione creando un' atmosfera ambigua e selvaggia...
