Photographer's Note

Until I started to discover the name of this sculpture, I thought that it had quite literally fallen down from being in a standing position, how wrong could I be?

Still in the Valley of the Temples at Agrigento, this is a sculpture of Icarus in front of the Temple of Concordia.

I hope that my information is correct when I write that this was made by a Polish sculptor, whose name I do not know.

Icarus flew too close to the sun,and despite his father's warning, he ignored the advice. The sun melted the wax that was a part of his wings, and he fell into the sea.

Thank you for looking.
