Photographer's Note

San Gimignano medieval town known for its typical towers. This view here is the main Piazza-della-Cisterna, with the many tourists flock to this famous place.

Underground the piazza there is a water-cistern dated back to the 13th century.

Location on the map is at 43.4674, 11.0435 .

not much you can do about the people down below, other than just getting out of their way. Were you apart of this group or did they walk into your shot? a good shot of the buildings leaning into each other trying to touch :) cheers

Hello Ike,
We get a good view of the fascinating towers of this famous village. The ordinary buildings also look very good and have largely kept their medieval character. I always like to see a few persons in every street view, but I get frustrated to find myself in a large crowd of tourists. In a place like this it would probably be impossible to avoid them. You did your best not to let them dominate the view too much.

Ha! Ha! Ike, this was the visit, when we nearly met!
I love the fact, that after so many years, you remember the quality of the gelato and where to buy it!
It is a wonderful city to explore and you have captured its character of buildings and tourists.

My memory was not of gelato but of trying to find a place to park!!!

Ike, the towers in stone draw attention. This group of tourists is gathered in that plazza. They probably participate to a guided tour in the town. The buildings are centuries old in that place. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.

crowds which we probably not going to see so much this summer.
Nice square with old buildings captured with good perspective looking up. It makes us feel as if we were looking up really.

Hello Ike,
Italy in Summer....I can imagine that this place will be packed with tourists from far and near. Even now I guess since the easing of lockdown in several EU countries.
People only add the scene livelier ....the most important of all is the towers - the towers are beautifully placed and focused surround by the medieval buildings on this Piazza.
I'm surprised to see in your photo that there is no long queue - queuing for gelato.

If possible I try to avoid these tour groups with flags by racing ahead of them or falling behind them or placing myself between 2 of them. The towers are magnificent. Wish I had known about them when I was in Siena. Tfs!

We discover a wonderful very large arch on the corner.
To be honest, all buildings here look so beautiful.
It's a place I still have to discover but I can already note the address of the best gelato shop :)

Hello Ike, San Gimignano is such an attractive place, it is no wonder that it is so popular; I loved it!
This is an excellent point of view, we feel to be right in the centre here, with the famous towers all around us.
Hard not to include the many people, they do not mar this view.

Impressive these large medieval buildings and the towering towers behind, gives the whole complex the appearance of a fortress, many people in the square, it seems like a holiday.
