Photographer's Note
Given the winds of war, a bunker-sized hermitage can come in handy
Hermit settlement of Sustrico
Just upstream of Sustrico there are the interesting remains of a settlement, perhaps a hermit.
It consists of two small rooms, one built against the cliff, the other (in the photo) created by creating a vertical wall to close a natural cavity.
They were probably used as shelters during the Second World War and show signs of frequentation even in a fairly recent period.

Hello Silvio,
I guess this is the same place as yesterday, but it makes a very different appearance from outside. It makes me think of the much more recent bunkers littering the countryside of Albania. But this could only protect someone from rain, not from war. It's a fascinating building nevertheless, and I would be quite excited to find something like this.
Best regards,
Gert

useful notes about this
looking at the entrance I have
the feeling that this opening

Hi Silvio,
Very strange place to stay. I wonder if someone really lived there permanently. Shape of the entrance is interesting. It reminds of a human silhouette. Or more precisely the logo of Sandeman Port.

Hello Silvio,
The hermitage looks a bit like an igloo. But made of stones and it is located in a rock environment.
Also a nice addition of the tree and some smaller plants.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Silvio,
From this angle, we can clearly see that the cave was augmented by a building. Very nice!

silvio
excellent this external view of the door and window. we can see exactly as the people of those days used these rustic walls to close the cave and live inside.
take care

Ciao Silvio,
I wonder whether it is difficult to build a nuclear shelter. I suppose they may become popular again these days.
Very well spotted ancient structure with modern application.
The door seems to be extended at the top as if a very tall person was not able to fit and needed to make extra opening for their head.
Very well done,
M

Truely it looks as a hideaway place, Silvio.
Fine this frontal POV, well done photojob.
Buona serata,
