Castle Bridge, a photo from Verona, Veneto

Photographer's Note

This bridge was destroyed by the retreating Germans in 1945 towards the end of WWII. It was faithfully rebuilt using many of the original bricks salvaged from the river in 1957. Today it is peaceful again. I was tempted to add some blue to the grey sky but I kind of liked the mood here imparted by the overcast sky on a cool Autumn day.

Chris, good idea to re use the same bricks broken by the bombings during the wwII to rebuild this very ancient bridge. Nowadays, a promenade is planned along the river. It welcomes the locals and tourists coming here to talk and relax. Fine colors, good sharpness, happy new year.

Hello Chris,

I like the angle that you have chosen, here, making the very best possible use of the opposing lines of the cobbled path and the bridge. They contrast so very well, too, by their colours and textures.
The photograph is perfectly sharp and benefits from the positioning of the figures.

Hello Chris,
I am glad you left the sky as it is. It's hard to make artificial skies look natural. This is perfectly all right and makes a pleasantly soft contrast to the beautifully "rusty" looking bridge. The persons are nicely spread out over a fairly large area and complement the view perfectly. I wonder how many of the treasures destroyed in the Middle East during the last decades that will ever be rebuilt as nicely as this bridge.

Hello Chris, I recognised this bridge straight away in the thumbnails, it has such a distinctive style.
This is taken from a good point of view, and the people included complete the scene for me.
Good natural colours, no need for an alternative sky.
