Photographer's Note

When you take the boat from Stresa to visit the Borromean Islands, the first close-up view you have is this one! A view of the lush garden of the palace Borromeo, which covers more than half the area of Isola Bella.

The Borromean Islands are an archipelago of Lake Maggiore composed of four islands, three of which can be visited ; Isola Bella, Isola dei Pescatori, and Isola Madre. The other island, Isolino di San Giovanni, which houses a palace, still belongs to the Borromeo family.

The three islands that can be visited present different faces :
- Isola Bella, with the palace and garden, but also few houses;
- Isola dei Pescatori, built entirely of fishermen's houses;
- Isola Madre (also called Isola Maggiore), the largest, which houses a botanical garden and a palace.

It is possible, from Stresa to buy a package to visit one, two or three islands.

Hello Delphine - What an attractive image. I love the contrast between the FG crispness and clarity and the softness of the distant trees and mountains. Beautiful light on the FG detail. A well constructed shot with very good management. Warm regards rosemary

Bonjour Delphine. Nice POV, a well arranged composition. I was there not long ago and it is difficult to take a nice photo from a ferry. I like the strong definition of the trees and the architecture and how these contrast against the hazy mountain range.Lovely natural palette. Amicalement. Klaudio.
